Some good news: the world leaders have decided to double the aid to the poorest African countries.
It'll not help to make poverty history but it is at least a start.

At the Live 8 concert here in South Africa we did not have one international artist and I doubt they raised as much money as expected. Anyway, like you guys say, it's a start.
Africa is FULL of corrupt government officials and it's said, I'm "fortunate enough" to live in a country that's only half corrupt in certain aspects. I doubt we can make poverty history, there are too many criminals (corruption) on this planet, lots and lots of stinginess.

Nope. I don't think we will ever be truely able to eliminate poverty. We can help ease it for some... but eliminate it for all? impossible.

Stop reading my signature. Don't deny it. You're reading it. I can see you. You're giving it the casual little once-over. How rude. Didn't your mother teach you better?

Look at the crisis in Niger now. They UN new about a problem there way back in November 04. They had a drought and the crops were eaten by locust. Now people are starving and dying. I always ask myself why help is send to these places so late.
