Are you talking about Arbonne, Jess? Yes ... Arbonne has some good weight loss stuff ... shakes and everything. I think they may have the pills, too. Of course, my mom's allergic to the pills and she started growing hair on her chin. It stopped when she stopped taking them. LOL. No one else in my family that uses the stuff's ever had that problem, though.
LOL really?! Wow, I've never heard of that side effect before!

I've never heard of Arbonne...but i dont get out that much, so it might be in Canada.

Its the pictures that are backwards, not the months...sorry, lol....cause she recently lost weight, and dyed her hair blonde. I don't think she went in a time warp back a month...lol.

Yeah, I guess it means that she didn't buy her breasts then.
Hm.

I wish I had red hair like that...its beautiful.

I think everyone is impressionable to a certain extent. When you flip on TV and see these girls that are stick thin, and they are suppose to define what is beautiful... how can you help but to want to also be beautiful.

I must be in the minority then. I have my own definition of beauty. I don't need a television to tell me.

Kari, I wasn't accusing you of criticising Mary-Kate Olsen. I was speaking generally.

Fiona, those pictures are amazing. Lindsay definately looked better before, but what she's doing is her decision.

Me too...I like people with character and substance...whether or not they're 90 or 350 pounds...It doesn't matter. I find that the people with the most character, and substance are people who aren't Hollywood skinny or picture perfect.

My husband's love for me is certainly proof of this.  He says I am beautiful and I am a good 50 pounds over weight.    I can't figure out how he sees me as beautiful, but I love him dearly for it.

Thank you so much for starting this topic, because this has been bothering me for a very long time now!

How thin is too thin? There is a definition for this: Either 15% below the expected weigth (depending on the height of that person) or a Body-Mass-Index below 17,5 (19-24 are normal/ideal/healthy weight for people between 19 and 24 years of aged, the older you become the more weight is alright. Your BMI is easily figuered out by a simple calculation: weight (in kg) / height2 (in m) Unfortunately I don't know how to calculate it with pounds and feet and such because we don't use these here...

Underweight has some serious consequences, just as overweight has. Neither is healthy. Underweight can lead to a shorter life expectancy.

Many actors and models are way underweight, and mostly not because they naturally can't gain weight but because they work hard for it. And that is just so sick! And yes, they do have a huge influence on many young people who look for a role-model. Even though there are many people who individually have a different idea of beauty the society as a whole still prefers the Barbie-shaped beauty. Which is in my opinion rather dangerous - it leads (among many other factors) to the growing number of patients with Anorexia nervosa.

Oh, and btw, I don't think these weight loss pills are good at all. They work in messing around with hormones (wich is prolly also the reason why somebody got more facial hair (I don't remember who it was??)). Messing around with hormones almost always has side-effects (for example hormones are very important for emotions and so on) and should not be taken too easily. They also don't change the cause of overweight (wrong eating-habits, not enough excercise...) and can therefor not have a durable effect.

So, that was it, my two pence

that's really respectable. Maybe it's not as bad in Australia as it is here in America... but our society is so freaking vain lately... it annoys me to no end. I have my own idea of beauty as well... not everyone agrees with me... some people like "big butts", some people like really thin people, I, personally, find toned but slightly curvy people attractive... which is what i'd like to be, but i'm afriad i'm curvy in all the wrong places! so i'll just have to work to be toned.

I was just thinking... she had to have really done a lot of cardio to burn off her breasts like she did! she was so pretty and full... "curvy in the right places" but, yeah... it was her decision... maybe she feels more comfortable now.

Arbonne is a HUGE market down here. Everybody's mom and everybody's aunts sell it. LOL. It's just like Avon or Mary Kay, except it's all-natural.

Wow, that's terrific! I don't think I know anyone that thinks they are beautiful, except for a few and they are totally conceited. Hehe. Anyway, it really is great that you are confident enough to not feel like you have to live up to a certain celebrity just to be beautiful. I wish I could be that way. *Sigh.*

Yes, it is her decision, but you must admit that what she's doing is making her look unhealthy. Losing weight is just fine, but I don't really think being underweight is a good thing at all.

I agree that it was Linsey's decision to lose weight, but she does look very thin so it obviously isn't her natural shape. She looked great before.

I think celebrities do influence some people to what beautiful is, it's hardly a good thing to young girls that Linsey is so thin  It's not surprising that so many people have body image issues.

Yes, that's very true. Even though a person has the right to treat their body any way that they please, young celebrities should realize that they are role models, and that the way they look and act influences lots of young girls.

Very good question. For me it's hard to say. I'm 5'5 and weigh between 127 1/2-130. Which is actually just about where someone in my height range is supposed to be. The celebs that are my height and only weigh 110-115 isn't good. That is way too skinny for someone in that height. 110-115 is more or less say for, 5'1-5'3. As for Lindsay Lohan's actually 5'4. Anyway when she was 140 she looked excellent. Now at 115, I'm really surprised. No offense but she does look like a Barbie in a way. That is sort of my defition of too thin. Another example is Calista Flockhart or Nichole Richie. Nichole esspecially is, I don't know how to say it. They're my two other examples of too thin.
