Like whale meat much? Well, Korea does, maybe a little too much

2137 Whales could be killed in 2005 alone.
On top of this, Korea wants to be declared a whaling county.
"In a few days, on the 19th of June, the International Whaling Commission (IWC) will come to Ulsan, Korea, to decide the fate of the whales. We need the whole world to join us and support whales by making sure that the Korean government does not follow the footsteps of the Japanese government, and does not push for a resumption of commercial whaling and lethal research."
Call me a Greenpeace lovin' hippie, but i'd like my kids to maybe see a whale once in there life.
Even if you don't help, atleast understand what might happen, and be informed.
"It is impossible to bring you physically here, to the “Whale embassy”, to fight together for the life of whales. This is why we invented this new concept, the “Virtual March”, where, by sending your photo with a banner expressing your rejection for the killing of whales, you can actually be in Ulsan. Your photo, together with thousands of others, will be published in our web site and, from the day the IWC meeting starts, projected on the walls of the building where the meeting will take place."
Now tell me that isn't cool!

That's, um, lame.

Why would you pay to see me in a cage?

It's South Korea.
They are very beautiful...really calming to watch. I've been on two whale-watching trips, and it was great. It's really sick and sad how Korea has this hunger to kill whales...
16,000 people have already taken part in expressing their anger against Korea becoming a commercial whaling country (again).
I just wanted to post it and see what people thought...glad you guys care!

umm... is there a point in SK killing these whales? Actually, i have a brief memory of why whales were killed, but it's not proving to be very useful at the moment. What are whales used for? meat?

Stop reading my signature. Don't deny it. You're reading it. I can see you. You're giving it the casual little once-over. How rude. Didn't your mother teach you better?

Well, since killing whales commercially is illegal in SK at the moment, the people who kill the whales sell the meat for more than $30,000 (US!) Thats a lot of money. And this $30,000 worth of meat was a immature Minkie Whale. So that whale wasn't even that big compared to other whales.
What do you think they were killed, Jess?
The only reason I know of is $$$, I'm pretty sure they aren't using other parts of the whales (like they should be)...hmm...that's all I can really think of. You can't really mount a whale head in your living room, can you?

LOL! ahahahhahahahhahahaha *rolls around laughing* that would be so strange looking. ... don't think you'd have a living room big enough to mount a whale head. I was thinking whales were used for their blubber/meat. ... couldn't really remember, though.

Aren't some of their oils used in makeup? Hmm. I might be mistaken though, so don't take my word on it.
That is rather sad though.

| Well, it is horrible, but i think its important to know whats going on in our world. I mean, the whale thats meat went for more than $30,000 US wasn't even a big whale...so imagine a full grown whale
Yeah, people use to use whale parts for oil...but not so much anymore. the main point of killing the whales is for their meat, which an individual can make a lot of mula off of.
Theres not many whales left in this world, and if humans keep going at them like they'll just spring up out of no where for ever and ever, then whales are going to be extinct, maybe even in our lifetime.
Well, i'm happy that all of you have replied, I thought less would..I'm just another Greenpeace freak who wants to save the world, .
