How annoyed are you with cell phones?

i hate them.
where i work, there are 3 large, visible signs asking customers not to use their phones, but that doesn't stop them. one man was having his passport photo taken, and stopped the photographer just before he took his pic to answer his phone.
in cars, in movie theaters, in restaurants... and 85% of the time, it's never an important call, because they talk so damn loud you know what they are talking about.

You know what I don't understand about people w/cellphones...why do they always feel compelled to answer them, no matter where they are or what is going on when they ring? Pretty much everyone has voice mail, so why not just let the caller leave a message?
I don't even feel compelled to answer my home phone, if I am doing something that I don't want to be interrupted. Unless I am expecting an important call, if I am doing something else, like putting my daughter to bed or writing or even studying my Bible and writing in my journal, I let the machine get it. I guess I feel it is a matter of valuing who I am with presently(be it a friend, my daughter or hubby, or God), and what I am doing enough not to drop it for someone or something else.
I mean, I have to use my judgement...I would certainly get the phone if I am just lightly chatting w/a friend, or w/my daughter or hubby, but if we are in the middle of something special, or intense or important, isn't that was the machine is for?
I think that's what I find hard about cell phone users...sometimes, it just makes more sense to let the machine get it. I saw a movie the other day where a guy answered his cell phone while riding like a maniac on a horse chasing a train. I mean really...who would be on the line that would be more important than keeping your hinny on the horse?!! Oh. Maybe Elijah. Teehee!

Ahh this reminds me so much of the "Grumpy old men" TV show when they were talking about phones. Hehe.
I love my mobile, but I never let it interrupt me when I'm in the middle of something important. For example, my phone will always go off at least once when I'm in a lesson at college. Yes, I should put it on silent, but I always forget. When it does go off, I just reject the call - I don't go to the teacher "Oh excuse me, I have to take this" and then find out it's just my Brother wanting to know if he can borrow a CD or something.
When it does go off though, it does cause some giggles due to my ringtones. My fave one at the moment is this little guy: HIYA
It actually caused Tracy (my ICT teacher), who normally shouts blue murder at you if your phone goes off, to have a giggle fit and go... scarily insane for a brief moment. lol.
I don't mind mobile phones. So long as people aren't overly obsessed with them. You know, checking if they have been sent any texts, or missed any calls every 5 mins. That's just taking it a bit far.

lol, love this. The thing is, the majority of people don't like leaving messages on mobile phones. The only person I do who does it is my Mum. Which annoys me... because it costs me to listen to it. And all she ever says is "I phoned you. Ring me back." which I would do anyway when I noticed I'd missed a call from her.
But yeah, I'm not bothered about mobiles, so long as people are sensible with them, and don't get too obsessed.

I don't have a problem with cell/ mobile/handy phones because I don't have one. Never had one in the past either. I wouldn't even know how to use one.

I have a cell phone too but I never use it.. Only if my parents call or something... If my friends call it, I almost never answer and my phone is always dead or off... I don't like using the phone so mine isn't used too much.. unlike my sister, who can't leave her phone by itself for 2 minutes because she might miss a call..

Everyone's always like "Why don't you ever have your phone on?" Geez, if you want to talk to me THAT badly call me on my home phone or meet me somewhere. Gaah.

My hubby asks me this all the time!I have it on but sometimes it's somewhere where I can't find it.I'm still not used to carrying one everywhere. The reason why I got one was when the first child was born in case I had to call the hubby. He had a cell phone already for work so he just got me one on the same account and then I had one that he could contact me on.I rarely use it and only when I need to check my email.
I almost got into a car accident the other week when a lady didn't stop at a stop sign while she was on her cell phone.I almost ended up in her lap with the front end of my car!GET OFF THE PHONE,BIATCH!

This is going to be a long one... When it comes to mobile phones, I have mixed emotions.
Until 1997, I did not have a mobile phone but that summer, my mum and I got one each. I was at a Summer College (preparing for Uni life) for five weeks and at the end of the weeks I made my way home... on the train.. with loads of luggage. I wanted to take one train at 10am but decided to take the later train at 11am, figuring it would take me to the same place I wanted to go to. Wrong. I wanted to go to a place called Wolverhampton where my mum was waiting for me but I ended up in Birmingham and for some reason, I was unable to get to Wolverhampton. So, my mum was waiting in Wolverhampton, I was in Birmingham and neither one of us had a phone. So I went to my home town and stayed at my friend's house, worried sick and unable to reach my mum. It was horrible. She eventually came home, worried sick also, and finally I reached her at home. Then we got mobile phones.
On the other hand, it greatly annoys me, when mobile phones go off during lectures or while I was in College, during lessons, and when the kids played around with their phones during the lessons. My mum teaches I.T. to 16 year olds and she always sees the kids playing around with their phones during the lessons, which annoys her greatly. While I was at Uni, if I went out with friends, even if we only went to the Pub or TV Room of the place where we lived, the mobile had to come along and you'd hear the "click click" of the keys all the time. That's really annoying!!!

I hate cell phones. They're annoying, especially if they begin to ring during a movie with about 200 other people in the theatre. It's sick, seriously. I refuse to ever have a cell phone, and i usually try my best to avoid using one.
If you really want to talk to someone that bad, call their house, or meet them somewhere.
I do understand that they are good in some situations. Like if your car stops in the middle of a high way, or you need to be picked up somewhere.
I also hate all the silly accesories people put on them too. Please people, it's just a phone!

lol, i like cell phones. i don't like mine... but that's cause it's ugly... and... the charger has mysteriously went missing... so it's currently dead. But i really want a camera phone... i think they're handy. I do agree, though, i hate it when people live on their cell phones constantly... my mom is always on hers when she's in the car... always. And i hate it when you're in a resterant and u see some dude eating with his friends... they're all talking and goofing off, and he's just jabbering away on his cell phone. seriously, i mean, take some time for the people around you.

Stop reading my signature. Don't deny it. You're reading it. I can see you. You're giving it the casual little once-over. How rude. Didn't your mother teach you better?

i'm like a lot of you. i have one, but i never use it.
it's good to have the phone with you in an emergency or to check on plans while out and about, but if my phone rings while i'm driving, i just let it ring.
using it while driving is the worse.
i saw a report on how people's line of view changes while on the phone. instead of their eyes scanning left and right to see all traffic, their eyes only focused straight ahead.
i'm glad your incident wasn't serious elflvr.

grrr how do i hate thse kind of conversations
They are always the same, and annoying, and why can't you just phone when you arrived on your destination, noo it has to be ON the train, grrr

I have a cell phone but I rarely use it. I am always very respectful if I have to use it in a public place. I do get annoyed with people. You know in California it's worse. In Los Angeles about 80% of the people you see driving is on a cell phone. I just believe people think it is cool or something. When I hear a person talking really loud about something dumb I stop what I'm doing and stare at them. It's funny.

It's also that I just don't understand why'd you really want to talk to someone that much, and that long. Maybe it's because i'm an introvert, but I don't see how interesting and in depth a conversation over a cell can really get. Sometimes i feel so old. *Sigh* And i'm at the age were cell phones are all "the rage".
