Quote from: Colleen on May 21, 2005, 06:20:36 pm i have actually been wanting to be a vegetarian...just cause meat doesnt really taste that good to me (yet i still eat it ) and ive been wanting to lose weight...dont know if that will help at all, but at least its worth a try
|
I think it could be healthy to be a vegitarian, if you made sure you got the right nutrients. Despite what people insist on, meat is healthy for you... if it is prepared correctly (EX: KFC Chicken is not exactly healthy... if you bite into it and it leaks grease... yeah... that's a pretty good indication that it'll stop up your arteries. lol.) and, depending on your lifestyle, you may need to eat some meat occasionally. But if you have a pretty seditary lifestyle, and make sure you get enough protien and stuff, becoming a veg head may be the thing for you. (lol, i guess that would make me a 'meat head' then, eh? lmao)
So... how do you guys feel about eating fish if you caught, cleaned, and cooked it yourself? would you consider eating it if you knew that you did all of that in the most humane way possible?

Stop reading my signature. Don't deny it. You're reading it. I can see you. You're giving it the casual little once-over. How rude. Didn't your mother teach you better?

| *lol* I wonder if you will ever see a vegetarian fishing Yeah, I would eat it. If I stranded on a lonely island where there's nothing else to eat

Personally, I wouldn't eat it. Animal cruelty is only a part of the reason that I am vegetarian. I also despise the taste / texture / smell of meat. However, if I was stranded on an island, I might force myself if the only other alternative was to starve.
I agree, Jess. Both a vegetarian and a non-vegetarian diet can be healthy. If meat is cooked in the right way (steamed fish) it can be good for you. I heard somewhere that some meats have a high fat content, not sure if that's true or not.

Some meats do have high fat content. Meat like fish, though, has Omega 3 Fat... which is actually the "good" kind of fat (heh, never knew there was such a thing, did u?) The "good" kind of fat helps you burn the "bad" fat easier. It also helps keep your skin clear and gives it a healthy glow. I'm thinking it does something else, but i can't really remember.

i think you can get suppliments for that fat. I actually take some every day. ... or... try to. it helps my skin... although, i do prefer to eat the fish than to take hose nasty, horse pills. but, if you hate meat, lol, u can get those.

but... they do, don't they? otherwise how would those types of videos be produced? I mean, sure, they don't go out and publisize it or anything... but, i don't think they really go to great lenghts to hide it. Otherwise, they'd have a better background-testing system on those ppl that come in "undercover" to film stuff... and they wouldn't let other people film the process... which, apparently they do.

I have never seen any of the those vids but friends of mine have told me about them long ago.The frist time I cried about seeing an animal in captivity was when I first moved out here and went to Seaworld. They were only those tiny turtles but it brought tears to my eyes.I have only been to Seaworld once since I had kids.I have lived in Califormia for almost 16 yrs.and many people here have gone to Seaworld numberous times.I just don't want to be forced to go back.I get misty seeing the struggle of the sea turtle after they are born on some national geographic show.
