The ending kills me. I knew it would end that way the whole time when reading the book, but then I forgot I suppose, and then, BLEH. lol. Same thing happened in the movie (I was more afraid the director had changed the ending actually)

I looooooved this movie!! I have mixed feelings about Ruby -- I think Renée played her part well (and I adore her anyway, definitely) but I guess I was annoyed a bit by the character. Ruby seemed exaggerated and excessive. I didn't mind the accent; it wasn't meant to be a Texan accent (I haven't read the book yet, so Tiff feel free to correct me) so I can't critique it, either. I just didn't how how to feel about her. LOL, I loved her "number one, number two" bit, though!
SPOILER
The ending killed me as well... I had a feeling that he would die, simply because Ada said that the vision she had seen in the well was different from when she finally saw him again.
I generally don't like period movies unless it's from a time in history I enjoy learning about. The Civil War is not one of those things, but the movie was done tastefully and beautifully.  I liked your assessment of it, Tiff.

I absolutley love this movie...went and got the DVD when it came out...i cried at the end, and at certain parts in the beginning...this movie just gets me sad....and Jude Law is yummy of course

i watched it last night.. the end is so sad! I wish he didnt die..
But everything was so pretty.. the land and stuff..
