The only thing I can figure is the space thing. He wants to be an astronaut and the US simply has more of a space program (according to a British friend of mine). Can't think of any other reason.
I'm going to work out in a minute and watch the directors commentary on Thunderpants before i return it. I'm really curious about why he did some of the things he did, like using so much green in the film..
Hugs, Rach

Yeah, the UK isn't particularly famous for having a space program, LOL! Maybe I'll see if I can get a hold of Thunderpants.

I just watched the directors commentary on Thunderpants. For the first half hour, they didn't seem to know what to say and I found the entire thing very uncomfortable. Later, however, they seemed to get into it. It was rather funny, actually.

Awkward silences? Hilarious! Did the director explain his use of green then Rach?

Yes, actually. He said he did it to emphasize the cartoonish aspect of the film. He reminded the audience that this story could never happen in "our" world but was taking place in ANOTHER world.
He didn't really mention Rupert much, which I found disappointing, but it was Bruce Cook's film.
I got the distinct feeling that the director didn't like the film very much, but maybe that was just my take.

Its a bit of a shame that the director didn't like his own film a lot.
Did you notice there was a cartoonish aspect to it, when you watched it, Rach?

Hmmm.. Yes, though I'm not sure that is what I would have called it. It is most definately a KIDS' MOVIE, but it was interesting to see Rupert at that age and the green of the rest of the film din't do him any harm visually! LOL

Have you seen "Driving Lessons"? I think it's much easier to think of him in other parts once you've SEEN him in other parts. It's the same for most actors, I think. That's why they want to do different projects. They'd get very bored playing the very same character all the time. Even successful tv actors, ones in long running series, often do movies or other roles in their off times. It would be too limiting to their careers to be TOO bound to one role.
I am actually anxious to see Rupert in more films. I think he could have as wide a range as he wants to have.

Nice picture Rach, thanks for posting - he looks so smart when he wants to!
About the range - Driving Lessons is so different from Harry Potter, there really is no comparison, but if you get a chance Shayda, it comes reccommended! Beautiful film, and it proves that Rupert is an actor of some calibre.

Yes, Shayda, Driving Lessons comes HIGHLY recommended! I've never spoken with a single person who had seen it who didn't like it.

I've been browsingand found a couple of stills from Driving Lessons, but I'll put them in this thread because they're mainly Rupert.
