Well, I was waiting on tenterhooks - but it's not been released in any cinemas here in Northern Ireland! Why?
Yes, minor rant here too.

Am I the only one who thinks there's something a little creepy about Martin? I mean the whole border-line stalker thing he's got for Seldom.

i didn't get the feeling martin was stalking or even borderline stalking. i believe he's highly adamant of seldom and wants to be like him if not better than him. some called it a bit of arrogance, but i saw a overly self confident person. maybe even a bit of a know-it-all.

I watched this the other day and i really didn't like it. I'm sorry but it was one of the worse films i have ever seen and i've seen alot. I wouldn't recommend it, the only good thing was Elijah but even that did not make up for how awful this film was.

None that I've heard so we're waiting for news of a US DVD release. There's an art-house cinema downtown that may eventually get it but I've given up hoping for a wide release.

Drat, Romeny! Sigh....I guess we just have to be satisfied with a US DVD release.
Heh heh....well Jen...Romeny & I are a little "seasoned". Let's just say we are over 18, but not much over, right Romeny.

Hi Guys:
!!!! SPOILER ALERT !!!!
To my surprise finally found the dvd The Oxford Murders at the new releases section of my DVD Express Shop. (not very express since plenty of peeps already saw it in 2008, but nevermind).
My opinion, the casting was great. Hurt, Wood, Waitling, Cox were well cast as the main characters. The little stories woven into the story to prove a point, I liked them, it had a sort of short movie feel to it. The actual story was missing "oompff". The obsessive character of Martin should have been depicted differently. He supposed to be slightly the hot guy that women throws themselves at him. But he seems like he has no experience with women at all. Odd. So he is Mr. Hotness & Kool & Happy but also a total nerd and naive. Something is off. Wood did his best to portray Martin, but in the end the movie didnt develop his character well enough. Seldom, well, Mr. Hurt was excellent. It was a treat to just listening to him talk and walk and do his thing. But also, the movie fails to show his obsessive, controling side. Leonor was wonderful. A mature sexy strong woman that won't take "crap" from neither older man or younger man. So i loved her exit in the story. Juliet Cox, same thing, she played her part well. Her mother was just chilling. Wonderfull interaction in the beginning scenes. All and all, it kept me guessing. I had to possible murderers in my head. But my guess of motive was very off. I thought maybe Cox + Seldom had a thing and wanted the inheritance, she wanting the freedom, he needing money because his books were not selling like hotcakes. The only character that showed the real obsessiveness of a nerd was Kalman, and that they portrayed very well. I think I would rate it from 1 to 10 a 7minus. Not a movie that would ever find a place in my collection.
PS: I have not seen all Woods movies, but I was amazed when i checked the "special featurette" with interviews where he says this is his first portraying a romantic relationship in a movie. Wow. He took his time. I hope it didnt frighten him too much and will explore more of it, hahaha. The dude remained all thru it in his jocks while the girl was stark naked.
