Yet another tidbit...
Quote:| Elijah Wood is joining Anthony Hopkins and Demi Moore in the cast of Bobby, about the night Robert F Kennedy was shot dead at the Los Angeles Ambassador Hotel in 1968. The Lord of the Rings actor will play a young man who falls in love, Hopkins the hotel's porter, while Moore will be a dancer. Bobby is written and directed by brat-packer Emilio Estevez. Producers hope to begin filming before the hotel is torn down at the end of the year. |

same old... except Moore becomes dancer instead of lounge singer. *shrugs* Guess she could do both.... sing and dance.

From MTV Movie News:
Excerpt:
"I was in North London, I remember, doing a play, and the news came through that Robert Kennedy had been assassinated. I thought, 'The world has completely gone insane.' " After nearly 40 years of living with that painful memory, Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins is preparing to relive the day the U.S. senator and possible future president was murdered in Emilio Estevez's upcoming film, "Bobby." "It's a good script ... and it takes place at the Ambassador Hotel," the former Hannibal Lecter recounted of the film, which co-stars Elijah Wood and is due to begin filming soon. "I play an ex-doorman, a man who actually lived, named John Casey. I'm sort of the Lewis Stone part from 'Grand Hotel'; [I witness] all the lives of other people and their intrigues and their domestic lives. One of the characters says, 'Everyone always comes here, but nothing ever happens,' and that night, Bobby Kennedy is assassinated in the kitchen of the Ambassador." Hopkins said he will also act as executive producer.

More about "BOBBY" and Elijah's character:
Wood's character is marrying a girl to change his draft classification. Cannon is a Youth for Kennedy volunteer, and Rodriguez is a hotel busboy.
Ten more major roles need to be filled, but after 4-1/2 years, Estevez is 2-1/2 weeks away from the first day of principal photography. The budget is less than $10 million.

Thanks for the link, Carina, the plot sounds very interesting, and the actors are mostly firstclass, but I am a bit confused, that filming will start without having most of the actors/actress??
And although it is an independent production (again) I am hoping for a wider release....

I'm assuming that the film will be done in stages, with those parts being filmed first for which they have actors already.
Maybe it will be a film which feels more like a documentary, with all the people being shown separately, doing what they do in their life, but at the end this tragedy brings them together.

I am not worried about that, as far as he keeps on choosing challenging and intersting characters...

I think what Sabine means is that she's hoping for a wider release so that everyone will have the chance to see this movie.

Ok... thanks for clarifying that for me... It would be great a film that would get a better distribution, thatīs for sure. But that has rarely been Elijahīs style. If we look back to his filmography there arenīt many wide releases... which itīs a constant frustration for me...

As much as it is a blessing for me, because he's choosing such varied and interesting roles, it's also a curse, because what's the point if we can't actually see the movies (in the cinema; and for some like Bumblebee we had to get the DVD from the States)?

Faaaassssscccinnnattttiiinngggg....
Wonder why it's called Bobby, though, since it sounds like it's more focused on those around him.
They MIGHT get wider release, but it's hard to say... it's not a clear-cut, linear storyline, but a slice of life. That's a hard movie to sell....

Do not speak to us of the greatness of poetry, Of the torches wisping in the underground, Of the structure of vaults upon a point of light. There are no shadows in our sun, Day is desire and night is sleep. There are no shadows anywhere.
