I looked over at the IMDB about this movie and I see some of the posters mentioned that Sean deserved an Oscar nomination for this role.  I can see why; this is a very intense, tragic movie and it looks as if Sean does so well in these scenes.

It seems this is a pretty tough story to tell for you isnít it Rach?  You do caps so well.  Grrr...Iíd like to turn that Ted into someone though.

Sean does an AMAZING job in these scenes. He wrenches your heart, but at the same time there is another layer to his emotions that you can't quite put your finger on. It's this dichotomy that makes you think and keeps you involved in the character.

Yes, I am having trouble with it. This story touches me on SO MANY levels and not just as a Sean fan.

Ted is SO BAD that I used him as a model for the meanest villian I've ever created. LOL

Kiwi, let us know when you see the film. I'd love yor thoughts, too.

Hugs,
Rach

For the rest of the images, I am just going to post links. Some of these images are very upsetting, especially at the end and i would prefer people have a choice as to whether or not to click on them. There's nothing here I think is against the rules. You could see it all on tv. It's just...very emotional.

King has come back and is looking for Greg. When he finds out that Greg was going to Tedís, he isnít pleased and follows him. He and Heather muscle their way into Tedís and find Greg on the floor in a drug-induced heap.  He tells Greg that they have to get away and that he wants Greg to go with them. Greg doesnít ask where, just ďWill we be together?Ē
Greg wonít leave with King, but promises to meet them at the bus station the next day. ďOn my honor.Ē

As far as Iím concerned, this is where King makes his big mistake. He should have MADE Greg leave with them then. King is older and larger and he could have made Greg leave, but he didnít.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/Storyteller/Sean/Where%20Day%20Takes%20You/Part%202/cap137.jpg

Greg leaves Tedís but is cornered by the police. They are looking for King, and know that Greg has been seen in his company. When heís searched, the cops find drugs in his pocket and heís taken off to jail.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/Storyteller/Sean/Where%20Day%20Takes%20You/Part%202/cap242.jpg

And this pic I find one of the creepiest in the film. It's the way the light hits the angle of Sean's face, the way it highlights the hollow of his cheek. It just seems to say it all.

You can't take much of this in one day. More later.

Hugs,
Rach

This IS a hard core, gritty movie;  poor Greg.  Twenty lashes for King for leaving him...he could see Greg wasn't in the right frame of mind to make a decision, especially after going to all the trouble to find him!!

That last pic doesn't even look like Sean does it--I love it though?  Great caps Rach, I probably couldn't sit through this movie but this is about my speed.

I'll get the rest of this done before the middle of next week, I promise. I'm still struggling to catch up with everythin g I have promised everyone! LOL

I'm glad you liked the movie, Kiwi. It's one of the ones of which Sean is most proud, and for very good reason.

I promised I would finish and I will. There's one more part after this one and I'll try to post it tomorrow or Thursday. I could do it all but there are a lot of caps and I want to use them all.

When we see him again, he been released, and heís at Tedís. The pusher tells him that heís done the right thing to talk to the cops and save himself. Seanís face tells the true story. Greg hates himself. Heís a scared, lonely addicted kid whoís done something he can barely face. The script doesnít need to tell us this. Seanís face does.

ďYou did the right thing coming to me,Ē Ted tells him. ďGood. Good.Ē But Greg knows better. He paces the apartment, deep in thought, until finally we see him going under the bed where the stash of drugs is kept. He unrolls a bit of aluminum foil to reveal a needle, already prepared, lifting it up so the audience can se both it and his face together. He shoots the drugs it contains into his arm.

Again, these are drug usage so I'm just posting links.

Sean is absolutely STUNNING in this scene! You feel the needle go in, see the single drop of blood,  and watch his relief as the drugs ease his physical and emotional pain.
The movie continues to jump between scenes of King and Heather kissing and Greg in Tedís filthy bathroom with his head on the toilet.  This is as gritty as it gets, my friends.

The third picture down is beautifully heartbreaking;  these are hard to see but very well done.  This must have been difficult for the actors to shoot as well.  Rach, I know you've posted that Sean said this character is the least like him but has he ever spoken about how tough this movie was to make overall?  How does he know how an IV addict looks, acts, etc?  He does such a good job.

The main place I've seen him discuss this film is here, on his official website.

http://www.seanastin.com/cinwhe.htm

I'm really sorry about the dark caps. This movie is dark. I can run a Clarify filter to lighten them, and did on some of the caps but they give the caps a hard look that the filmmaker never intended. SOmetimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Rach

ďI will never drive through the streets of Hollywood again, without remembering the all-night film shoots . . . the real homeless kids we hung out with, the dead body I saw, the freeway underpass we filmed atĒ

I love that quote by Sean.  This obviously had a big impact on him knowing that heíd made such a realistic movie that kids could relate to itóitís still relevant today.  I see why he was so proud of it and Iíll bet heíll never forget the sights he saw shooting it either.  Thanks so much for the link Rach.

I think this film certainly impacted his life tremendously. It certainly exposed him to a life he'd never seen before, and that has to be a good thing for anyone, but especially for an artist of any kind.

Now, the last part of WTDTY.

The next day, King, Heather and Little J are scraping up the money to get bus tickets out of town while Ted is throwing items in a dumpster located in a dirty alley. The kid wonder where Greg is, but realize they canít wait for him and get ready to board the bus. They are going to get away, to start over.
Then we are shown what Ted was disposing of so coldly. Gregís body lies among the trash.
Greg has escaped at last.

I have to also commend the makeup people here. Sean LOOKS DEAD. His skin appears lifeless and flat. You think youíve seen Sean do death scenes. If you havenít seen this one, you havenít seen his best.

URL=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/Storyteller/Sean/Where%20Day%20Takes%20You/Part%202/cap329.jpg][/URL]

Tipped off by Greg, the cops arrive at the bus station just as King gets off to look for Greg one more time. There is an altercation between the cops and J, who still has his gun, and King is killed.
The question always left me at the end of this film is whether or not Greg odíed on purpose. I certainly donít know for sure, but itís the question that brings me back to this film again and again, and the way Sean puts it before you and leaves you to make your own conclusions.
If you are a  Sean Astin fan, you HAVE to see this film. There simply isnít anything else to say. Itís what I remember when people cal Sean a ďnice guy  actorĒ or ďonly a hobbitĒ. He was Greg long before he was Sam, and the fact that he can be both is the measure of his talent.
