Will there be a ROTR remake?

I think in the next few years there might be remakes of the films...
Who do you think could play Frodo Baggins?

Wow. Really? I don't believe anyone would even think of topping what Peter Jackson did with the movies. It'd just be compared to his brilliant work, might even be a waste of time. Besides, why would anyone want to do a remake when the original was so amazing? Plus, no one could ever play Frodo, in my opinion, Elijah just about sealed it with his performance. I mean, seriously. Can you see another actor playing Frodo? Or say, even Aragorn? I mean, seriously, those actors were meant to play those roles. And I mean seriously.

I agree Solskie,
I don't want to see these movies get remade as they are fine the way they are.

But, some clever people out there think they can do better!
I guess it would be too hard to find another perfect Frodo Baggins...

I must say, especially ROTK could never be remade, because its so well-known as Peter Jacksons film and personally I could never see another actor play Frodo, it just wouldn't be right!

if this film is to be remade, it certainly won't be in the next few years. maybe in 20 years.... maybe. some things should not be fooled around with. like maryd said, there will be just too much comparison to PJ's version and all the actors in it. even if it is to be done again in 20 years, the comparisons will still be there.

Although, actually, wasn't there a cartoon version of LOTR from the 70s? And weren't the Beatles going to make one? So technically PJs was a remake, so maybe in 30 years another might be made....but I can;'t see it, what with all the awards they won and everything!

Lol. you're right, maryd. It's like sealed into cinematic history when PJ did it.

I'm sure there will be a remake someday but not in the next few years. Like Deenan said, probably in about 20 years from now. I can't see how any production company would want to invest a lot of money in a remake any sooner.

I don't think I could love a remake as much, and I'm sure plenty of other people feel the same way...for me, Elijah is Frodo, Sean Astin is Sam, Viggo Mortensen is Aragorn, Sir Ian is Gandalf etc. Nobody else would work as well!

Can't say I am too interested in any remake. I so loved PJ's version that it is inconceivable that anyone would bother. Just think...it would be compared to PJ's and probably found wanting. The only improvement possible is to make it longer and put in some of the missing details.

Like Tom Bombadil, and the bit in FOTR where Frodo dances on the table in the Parncing Pony - I'd love to see Elijah doing that...

You might be right but they better wait a long time for people's memories to fade, like forever! How anyone could duplicate this trilogy in terms of quality of the acting, directing, producing, costume design, etc...is beyond me and I almost would like to say it can't be done.
