I choose both. The movies are well done despite some changes from the book. Very good adaptations!!
The books are interesting to read because they have more details and its really the story of Frodo and the ring. Tolkien did an excellent story.

Movies, movies I don't have time to read books + my eyes hurt if I read a lot. I just luuuv movies .

I pick both. The reason I chose ' both ' lol because first the movies come frm the book(s) and came form an intelligent writer. Also, whoever does the films tries to bring out the imaginary thoughts and places that it took place in the book ( so they work their butt off )  to make everything good.
So, yeah, thats why.
and sometimes some directors.... is in love with the book(s)

I chose both. For most of the reasons that you all have already mentioned.
But to the person who said the movies don't have anything special in them that the books don't have: I BEG TO DIFFER!!! The movies have Elijah Wood! 
And at the risk of sounding like an over-heated fangirl, this is enough to almost sway me to PJ's side, rather than Tolkien's   ... But then the Professor drags me back with the Scouring of the Shire chapter, which I just ADORE!
