Personally I think Elijah's sexier with a British accent.  But I agree, it was British folklore and Pete chose Elijah because he looked very promising. Elijah said that his accent in the audition tape was awful, though. Really? I'll need to see that. When will that finally be released anyway?

sean spoke with an english accent as well, and a very good one i might add. 
there are several american actors who spoke with accents in the movies. elijah, sean, viggo, liv, and brad. (wormtongue) am i missing anyone?

They all did a great job with their accents, especially Elijah. I didn't know anything about him before I saw LOTR and I was surprised to learn he isn't English.
There were a couple of places where Sean seemed a bit uncomfortable with his accent. And Merry and Pippin's accents are actually quite different - Billy's Scottish and Dom (who I assume used his natural accent) is more west country-ish.
Wouldn't you just love to have been their voice coaches?  "Elijah, just look into my eyes and say that again slowly... 'I need you on my side...'"

His room is in the same sort of state my teenagers' rooms get into - and no, I don't feel inclined to pick up after him either!

i don't think that's his room. i think he spoke of whose room it is, but i can't remember. i'd have to bring the dump truck for that mess.

But I thought Billy used his own accent..in the inteviews he had the same accent as LotR..?

ok i would love to teach you to speak english, its not really hard so u should pick it up really quick.
