Best Acting Role BEFORE Lord of the Rings

Okay, I figured I'm gonna give Elijah another shot and try watching some things he's done that I haven't yet looked into that show his best skills in what he does. For those of you who have a fair amount of knowledge of the stuff he's done pre-LOTR, what do you think are his strongest moments in film, or television for that matter? If you can't list just one, list your top 3, or more if you feel compelled to, and give explanations and the reasons why. What does he show in his acting that impresses you in your particular choice?
This also serves as an in-depth discussion of something for once that has nothing to do with his looks. Well, to some extent, you know.

I have two:
1)The Ice Storm- great role for him. It's a small part, but he's very intense.
2)The War-simply amazing. I think he was about 15 at the time, not sure, but his performance in the movie is beyond words.

thats a good question.
Yeah, here are my three favourites (but i haven't seen many films, so this is a currently list):
1) Huckleberry Finn 2)Flipper (bc he doesn't like Sandy, so it was a challenge to him like he said, but neverthless he played the role well) 3) Chain of fools (just a small role, but the comedy role fits soo well)

Great question!! I´m going to list my favourite three. I like more his earlier movies than the latest ones...
- The good son - The war - The ice storm
These are worthy to watch and not only because of Elijah. Good luck and enjoy!!

Mmm... lets see.
Well I really enjoyed his role in Forever Young. He did such a wonderful job. And like others had said, his role as "Sandy" in Flipper was also done extremely well, though it was probably not one of his first choices. I watched some of Deep Impact last night, and his role was an Ok one. Probably not his first pick though. I haven't seen the Good Son but I hear Lij made it worth-while, and I hope to someday see it.

He was truly amazing in The Good Son. I'm also a big fan of his Huck in Huck Finn.

radio flyer: never, ever has a young actor had that kind of effect on me. well, all except for shirley temple.
the war: he had to show pure emotion and he did it so well. can you not feel your heart break when he spites god?
the ice storm: so much was required of elijah to downplay with his character and he did it with conviction.

I have two films that made me cry when I saw them:
Radio Flyer ~ I never actually knew it was him until I looked at his biography in 2002, but it always made me cry as a kid. I haven't seen it in Donkey's years though.
The War ~ I only watched this because of Elijah I'll admit it but it is one of my favorite films, and not becasue he's in it. He did a good job but it's such a lovely story.

Yesterday i finally got to watch Forever Young. It's a beautiful sad movie! And Elijah was so impressing, but also Mel Gibson.
Well, now when i think about it, i realised that he has more diversified roles BEFORE LOTR than AFTER. I love him acting dramatic and vulnerable, but i think he should go to other roles. I want to see his other sides more. Especially his funny, strong, psycho and criminal sides. I hope the biopic-filming will start soon.

It's technically not BEFORE Lord of the Rings (he filmed both sorta synchronically, I think) but I think my all-time favourite role besides the LOTR-hype is Barney Snow in The Bumblebee Flies Anyway. He was just...freaking astounding in that role. Runners-up: - Casey Connor, Faculty. Casey's just such a casually fun role, and something like a blueprint for Elijah - it fitted him like a glove: the confused hero. XD Mikey, Chain of Fools, because it's his down_right_SEXAYEST role. Mikey's basically breathing sex as he walks. Whooo.....

Elijah Jordan Wood (Characteristics) - too mindbogglingly, devastatingly gorgeous to be plain human. Possibly one of the few recorded cases of a male succubus, thus to be treated with extreme caution....mind the eyes!
