The Hobbit and LOTR was read to me when I was in 4th grade by a teacher who loved Tolkien. The whole class loved it! I ended up reading it the next year...and by some strange coincidence I had the same teacher in 6th grade...and of course...he read it to us again. I don't know how many times I have actually read it...but just started last week reading it again. I loved the movies - even though there are some BIG differences.

There is just something about the message within the story that is uplifting and encouraging: Love, loyalty, friendship & hope when all seems lost. It doesn't seem to matter when you read it..the message seems to be universal.

There are so many reasons I like the books & the movies...but perhap the greatest is the belief in the moment of "u-catastrophe" that sudden turning from bad to good. I find it a good reminder to journey on and keep hope alive no matter what trials and tribulations are present.  Every time I read it, there is something else that strikes me...now that is a great book!

And one HELL of a good weave of a tale.

I didn't get into LOTR until the 3rd one came out and I have been passionate about it ever since and that was about 4 years ago. It doesn't seem like it's been that long. It happened on a whim with my friend wanting to see the 3rd one and I told her I would see it with her but only if I saw the 1st 2 before hand....and the reast is history!! I don't know if I'll stay thiss passionate about it for the rest of my life but I know it will always have a special place in my heart (wow my family would kill me while saying "it's just a movie!" if they saw this!) becuase it's something that I cared about for a long period of time.

So it's been almost 3 years since the movie came out.
The dust has settled. The actors have moved on. Who has read the books and is STILL very passionate about LOTR........why?

I can't read them, I have to have them read to me bc I can't figure out the big words, but I love the movies. I want the books on tape maybe, that might help, or Frodo could put them on tape for me I love his voice, I put the voicetracks from my pc on an audio tape w/ LoTR Music video songs...does that tell u I'm a Frodo Freak?? LOL!

I saw the movies before I read the book but that did not stop me obsessing over them. It wasn't until about 2 years after the 3rd one that I began my obsession and got the extended editions and watched them every weekend (one each time) I have read the books twice in the past 5 years (I prefer the movies)
