Whoever would have guessed prior to filming that an 18 year old American former child-star could be perfect beyond our wildest imaginings at portraying a short, stocky hairy-footed 50 year old Hobbit?? But as Tolkien described Frodo, he's supposed to be "Taller than some and fairer than most...with rosy cheeks and a bright eye" or somesuch thing! So I guess Elijah was really the only choice!!
