lol personally I thought it was horrible...don't take offense from this, I didn't see more then 45 minutes of it, but what I did see was just...poor graphics...I didn't like how in the begining they had body outlines of real people, and the backgrounds, and I donno what I'm saying anymore lol...also the voices were extremly annoying and I was unable to listen to them any longer

I found it hilarious! Like amazingly entertaining. I watched all of it, i loved it! Especially Pippin and his womanly voice, made me laugh so f*cking hard! So cute. But i did hate the fact that it was soooo close to the story that it got a bit tedious -yawns- But other then that i loved it!! Woo Merry and Pip, genious once again.

i saw the cartoon version of LOTR for the first time when i was about 7 years old. the animation was just so weird, i had no clue what i was even watching half the time. i never quite got the concept of rotoscoping. and i wished Ralph Bakshi (the artist responsible for bringing it to animated form) had actually finished it. instead, he ended up getting into a ridiculous argument with the producer, which is the reason why the film was never completed. i also thought that Gollum's voice had a very uncanny resemblance to that of Ringo Starr. how....odd. and is it just me, or did Wormtongue bare a strong resemblance to Danny Devito? i'm probably not making any sense here, lol. btw, Ralph Bakshi is originally from the town right next to mine. i'd love to find an old yearbook with him in it.
i do like the animated versions of The Hobbit and ROTK. but i think Rankin and Bass (the guys who made these) maybe could have finished up where Ralph Bakshi had so unfortunately left off. it just seemed a bit uneven to go from the victory at Helm's Deep to Sam rescuing Frodo from the Orcs.

Here's another cartoon, in strip. Just press the previous button to see more, cause the link brings you to the last strip Philbo produced.

Just go and see, there are a lot of funny ones between them. They're not all fantastic, but just funny.

Harry Potter is about WIZARDS who go to SCHOOL. Whereas the X-Men are MUTANTS who go to an ACADEMY. In contrast, the little Lord of the Thingy dudes are totally unschooled. A bunch of dropouts. All they do is run around in the woods, singing songs and eating special bread.

I never saw the animated version of LOTR, but I watched The Hobbit once when I was little and the goblins scared the crap out of me. Funny thing is, I didn't know what the story was, I just remembered every once in a while a cartoon that scared me when I was little. Then one day at a bookstore I saw it one VHS and completly freaked out. I was like, OH MY GOD!! That's the movie that scared me when I was little!!

i'm sorry if theres already a thread on this but I searched and couldn't see anything!
I was just wondering if anyone else had seen the cartoon lotr! And what they thought of it?
when I watched it I didn't really like it as i didn't really like how the portrayed the characters (especially sam!)
I was just interested on everyone else's thoughts on it!

Thanks Annie

A thread about the animated version does already exist, and it wasn't too hard to find. I am merging this thread with the other pertaining to this topic.
