it does! i think its the scariest, freakiest part in the movie! its jsut so unnatural with that huge eyeless mouth. and voice! *shivers* hehee!!! dont mind me!

ya, it was kinda freakish...it would've been even more disturbing if it had been more true to the book...in this one part in the appendices, there was a section on the mouth of sauron (i don't know if you saw it), but one of their original plans was to have the guy's mouth be vertical instead of horizontal on his face.....now that was creepy

Actually the vertical mouth was kinda funny, like Peter wanted to go overboard with the wierd mouth... but if it's part of the book, well... don't throw it at me.

That scared me sooo bad to! haha My friend has this nightmare about creepy mouths like that and we watched it the other day and she got so scared! lol It was funny

The way he talks and the way he smile so evily its creepy.
Oh and I love that drawing! Thats soo cool, he is very talented.

John Howe is certainly a genius, but I personally think Peter's Mouth of Sauron is even freakier than the one Howe drew.
*Shudder.* PJ's Mouth is so wholly evil and disgusting looking. It's one of those things that's so revolting that you don't want to look at it. And yet at the same time, it's so amazing that you can't help but look at it. You know?
My friend Nick described it well: "It's like a car crash. It's gross, and you want to look away, but it's so interesting and intriguing that you just keep staring."
So yeah - he's freaky. But I think he's probably one of my favorite bits in the film, just because he's so perfectly despise-able.

i love John Howe's artwork. it's almost life-like. but thankfully, the Mouth isn't real. that would be really scary. i agree, i think PJ may have outdone Howe on this one.
on a lighter note, my boyfriend said that the Mouth was in serious need of an electric toothbrush and some Listerine.

Am I the only one who liked it? I think it was great and I loved how Peter made the mouth much wider then what it was orginally intended. (As said in the DVD)
Having never read the book, that extra in the DVD was a huge suprise to me. Great stuff.

Hey, I liked it too. But it reminded me of something from Star Wars. *nods head*
I was so happy that Peter brought The Mouth back into the movie. I was really looking forward to it, but it wasn't in the theatrical!

Oh, I never said I didn't like it!! In fact, The Mouth of Sauron is one of my all-time favorite bits in the entire trilogy. But just because I like that scene, doesn't mean it can't still freak me out. Lol.

oh i loved it and thought it was nightmarish. i loved how they made the mouth bigger with the horrid teeth and the black spit. but he was just so freaky! heheh i was scared so bad! and did anyone else notice that 1.) he wasn't a man (as in the book) 2.)he sounded like he was from Transylvania?
