Quote from: LegolasBuzzgirl on January 12, 2005, 06:11:06 am I havn't got any EEs yet. I'm currently without cash, so I'm saving up for the box set of all three!
So am I.
I was using a previous quote from tonks to get my point across! Maybe it's fiction maybe not. I happen to feel they probably have some truths in them, but some are too far out to be real. I mean- stopping the sun in the sky? I know it's God's miracle if you're christian, but the tides would be weway messed up.
I'm not ragging on religion- I'm agnostic.
Not if it's God who's doing the stopping. "He's got the whole world in His hands." *hums*
Anyways, I hope you do take time to read the all-time bestseller.

Yah, you know what's really weird but sweet in a way, Tolkien was afraid that nobody would read his writing....yah no idea why I said that, sorry.

Quote:It's pretty good all right, but it's definitely not fiction, my dear. |
Everyone has a right to believe what they want. I personally believe the bible is fiction. I am not telling you it is fiction, I am just stating my belief. This is an educated and thought out opinion on my part. I was brought up Roman Catholic and I have my reasons for feeling the way I do. Please, do not undermine anyones personal beliefs here. You have the right to believe it is truth, I have the right not to.

Quote from: LegolasBuzzgirl on January 13, 2005, 01:32:02 pm Yeah, but even if he could stop the sun there'd be repocussions for many things all over the world. Plus a lfair, all oving God who has favourites? Hmm...
That said there is some stuff that makes sense- creation for example.
But lets not turn this into a theological argument when it's meant to be related to LOTR

I'm sorry if my post offended you both in any way... I'm well aware that we're all entitled to our own opinions. And no, I have no intention of turning this thread into a theological argument.

You didn't offend me. But please do take into account that not everyone at A&F is a believer in the Bible. Therefore phrasing such comments as 'it isn't fiction' as 'I don't believe it is fiction' is a much better way of going about things, it doesn't sound so much like you're trying to tell people than state your own feelings.
