Thank God I've never come across any of those pics!! Although I have come across pop-ups that show nude pics of both men and women doing--eeeewwwww-bad picture in head!!!--but the web monitors should really get rid of that---that's even happened on neopets--I think!

Girls, don't direct link to images unless you've uploaded them yourself. It uses up others' bandwidth and if they're pissed off enough about it, they will upload nasty images to replace the ones you stole off the site.

Oh yes, I remember when that  happened to me for the first time. Nasty!
If it were me, I would just make it so they would turn into an x. That annoying red x is way better than a guy mooning.

Erm...but then I would never post pictures, if I didn't ever hotlink to others' websites.  People do it to mine.  Eh...I haven't been punished for it yet.

This is interesting because I saw that thread in the Fun Stuff section about using Google to find funny pictures.  You honestly think we should upload all those images to our own site?  I dunno...I wouldn't want to play that way.  I don't mind using my own site if it's for something permanent but for a fun game...no.

Just throwing that out there.

It was nasty when i experienced that for the first time.
A huge pic where was this woman.. x( and then the pics started to appear to my screen, new windows started to come and there were like 100 of them and all said 'free hard porn..' or something. I just pushed the restart button, cos they didnt go away o_o
But that didnt happen when i went to a hotlink, i was just surfing in the Calling fansites, and somehow it just happened. Maybe there was a pop-up or something? But it wasnt kewl.

I'm talking about personal sites, though many professional sites don't allow image hot-linking either (ImageStation, Geocities etc).

If I were paying for my own webspace, I would be pissed off if I had to pay fees because others were hot-linking to my images...and I know I'm not alone because we've got many 'Report to Moderator' requests that we edit a member's post to take out the image they hot-linked, and various members here have complained about this practice as well.

It's just bad manners, period. If something is *that* important to post...you can upload it on your own account.

Hey,
Yeah I know what you all mean. don't direct link pictures because if you do people might have this code on their site which makes the picture you hotlinked turn out to be a different picture when you post it somewhere else. it's hard to explain...guess all I can say is that I understand. Lol. So it's anyway better than you save the picture to your own computer and then upload it to your own server where you know it will be able to show up correctly. That way we'll all be happy!!

You save the images to your hard-drive, upload them onto your webspace, and link from there.

If the site is reputable, like MSN, then that's not a problem. But privatized sites or teen-owned sites often have 'creative' methods of dealing with hot-linking.

-starts crying- I posted one of the pictures (not on here)...and everyone started yelling at me and telling me I was the sickest most disgusting person ever...but I didn't get it because it was just a picture of Elijah! I think thats what happened...the whole hotlinking thing.
