I'm sure this interview is on amny.com but ill post it below to make it easier for the masses.
Illuminations from Mr. Wood
Elijah Wood speaks in complete, well wrought sentences that yearn to be uttered with a British accent.
He talks about "comedic elements" and "industry standards," and employs dependent clauses with the adroitness of an academic. Maybe it's all part of his effort to take on "less innocent" roles, something he's accomplished quite impressively ever since he trumped his "Ice Storm" fame with "Lord of the Rings." Wood sat down with amnewyork to talk about his new film, "Everything is Illuminated," in which he road-trips around Ukraine to track down a woman who appeared in a photo with his dead grandfather.
Q: How was filming in a tiny car with two guys and a dog? Was it smelly?
EW: No! The dogs didn't smell, Eugene and Boris didn't smell. It was quite alright.
Q: What was one of your favorite scenes to shoot?
EW: The location for Trachimbrod was about an hour-a-half outside of Prague, and it was really secluded and beautiful. We had our trailers at the location, and it was along this river. So we would end up staying at our trailers as opposed to going back to our hotel...it was like camping out.
Q: You've got really striking eyes. Do you harbor any vanity toward them?
EW: None whatsoever...I guess I was blessed with relatively large one that are very blue.
Q: "Lord of the Rings," "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "Sin City." You've done a good job of avoiding typecasting. But do scripts ever try to typecast you?
EW: Not really. I think the only typecasting would be that there are more roles that are relatively innocent than anything. Characters going through transitions, or characters that are relatively yoing in their innocence. Which is something I am trying to get away from...I'm still perceived as a lot younger that I am [he's 24], so I think it's relatively dangerous at this stage to play those kind of roles.
Q: When you look back on shooting "Lord of the Rings," are there images, smells, that come to mind?
EW: Funnily enough, pancakes with bananas and bacon. I ate a lot of that for breakfast.
Q: Pete [Jackson] has lost all that weight. He looks so different now.
EW: He looks amazing. It's definitely healthier for him. But I think he's finding that he's less resilient now. The thing about Pete is that he never lost energy...But I think his energy, because he lost weight, has waned a little bit.

Good interview... loved the dog smelly part. Off topic: has anyone seen a new pic of Peter Jackson?

Yes indeed, he is much thinner and now he doesn´t wear glasses...it is true that he looks so different.
And thanks for posting this interview, short but interesting... It is funny to hear Elijah saying he has been blessed with piercing blue eyes... nice way to consider it...
