Hello Yeux! Yeah, it's very interesting that we get so many bits and pieces of what's in store for us in the coming months through these different articles and interviews.

I've never heard of "Novel with Cocaine" before. Sounds pretty deep and angsty.

Elijah in Scotland for controversial film

ROSIE MCINTOSH August 24 2005

ELIJAH Wood, aka Frodo Baggins, arrived in Scotland yesterday for the premiere of his controversial new film.
In a role far removed from his sensitive Hobbit hero in the Lord of the Rings, the 24-year-old US actor plays a soccer thug in Green Street, which is being screened this evening at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
In his latest production, Wood's character Matt is sucked into the violent world of football hooliganism while on a trip to east London.
The star said he was drawn to the role by the nature of the script in which Matt turns from a Harvard student into a hooligan. "I didn't know about the violence associated with the game and that's what interested me most about the film." he said. "I've been to quite a few football games in the States but nothing compares to the energy of a football match."
He continued: "We went to the pubs beforehand as part of the ritualistic thing of preparing. The fighting fascinated me – I hadn't understood what that was about."
Described as "viciously tough", the film aims to shed a sympathetic light on the subject and is the directorial debut of German Lexi Alexander, the former kickboxing champion.
Wood said his fans had reacted positively to his new role, adding: "After the Lord of the Rings was over and done with, the last thing I wanted to do was be part of something massive – it was amazing but exhausting. I'm now passionate about smaller roles and am interested in doing a variety of different things."
Tonight's screening at Cineworld Edinburgh, Fountain Park, will also be attended by Charlie Hunnam, Leo Gregory and Marc Warren, who all star in the film, which is on general release from September 9.

The first two reports are here!!

1)

I've only got a very short amount of time here, and I messed up my driver and can't get any of my photos onto my jump drive to post. But be assurred, I took several hundred - at least half of them are rubbish, but I think there will be enough to please people.

I can't even begin to describe yesterday. I want to start out by thanking the people who did so much to help me get here and get around - Amy and Chris and Bine and Trish and Patsie and Sal and Becca and Lorna - I can't even begin to name them all. But at any rate, we gathered outside the cinema at noon - the three girls who had flown in that morning had gone straight there with their luggage and had arrived at 9, and so were waiting for us. They remained camped outside the doors while the rest of us took turns going into Pizza Hut for lunch. For the longest time, no-one could tell us for sure what the set up would be, and we heard all kinds of conflicting stories - including one thaT Sir Ian was arriving for his premiere at the same time as Elijah, which of course made me squee (and turned out to be totally untrue, as Ian was not coming at all). At any rate, eventually they put out the red carpet and the barricades and informed all of us (a good 30 strong by then) that we had to go all the way across the street. We went, very reluctantly, except for a few well-dressed Italian girls who took up a spot at the far end of the red carpet from the end where they would exit their cars. We thought about joining them - in fact, I was there with them for the first 15 minutes or so, but then decided to join the rest of my group across the street. After quite a bit of grumbling on our part, security did allow as they generally permitted a few people next to the barricades - and we all went back, the 3 earliest arriving girls being allowed to choose their spot first.

I'll skip way ahead here because I have 9 minutes of time left... I had said that if Lexi arrived first and not with the actors, we'd have our best shot - and bless her, that's exactly what happened. She looked gorgeous all in black and waved and smiled and started to walk away, and I yelled her name. She walked over, I handed her the photos I had for her and reminded her of when we'd met. At that point, she remembered my being one of her 3 stalwarts from Tribeca and got all excited and was talking to all of us. She pulled someone else over who turned out to be Gigi Pritzker, producer of the movie and head of Odd Lot, who had heard my name through the Chicago office. We talked for a few minutes and she was really lovely, thanking all of us for working so hard for the movie. And she and Lexi proceeded, as the others arrived, in making sure one of them grabbed the guys and got them specifically to us! Nothing like having Charlie led up to you by the hand... At one point, Gigi even asked how we were doing, and if we were getting everything we needed, and I honestly wanted to cry. She was truly lovely.

Trish and I, at least, did get everyone's autograph (although I forgot to give Elijah the album I had for him and had to catch him later on on the day) and I actually had Charlie to myself for several minutes as he was working his way down the line behind Elijah, who had slowed down and so Charlie had to wait. NO complaints here as he was absolutely lovely - both physically and in every other way, since he seemed to be in tremendous spirits, laughing and smiling, and was just as nice as he could possibly be. Leo was much quieter but also very nice, and Elijah was his usual wonderful self.

Can't say too much more except that Lexi referred to us again from the stage when she introduced the movie (thanks to 3 of the girls, including I think Anna, Anda and Christine, we had wonderful seats right in front), Elijah leaned down on his way out to tell us to enjoy the film, and we all got a photo with Lexi after the Q&A. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for things to go any better than they did.

But my time is up now - if I have a chance tomorrow at either of my airports, I'll see if I can post some photos, but must run now!

2) Extract (no spoilers):

The film. I don't want to spoil it for those (hopefully all) of you who are reading this, but the film was fantastic. I was worried when I heard Elijah Wood was making a film about football hooliganism. Even the fact that he wasn't pretending to be British didn't reassure me. But this film was wonderful. It showed how these men aren't just yobs who spend their whole time fighting. They are real people. Some with loving families, with jobs, perfectly normal guys who just change completely on Match day when they get a few drinks down them. The violence was very skillfully done - you saw the brutality of the fights, but it wasn't in your face. There was only a couple of scenes when I was like 'ew ew ew ew ew *hides*'. And I cried. Big wuss that I am. But....yeah. There's not really much I can say, but Charlie, Leo, and Elijah were all fantastic in it. Well, apart from Charlie's accent. Which we shall not comment on.

Just had a brilliant couple of days guys! Oh, hi to eandme and Sabine, great to meet you too. Anna, Im sorry i didnt see/speak to you!

Edinburgh was awesome! I met all the cast and Lexi and Elijah was so sweet to me.  I gave him the Westham shirt (I had Baggins 1 printed on the back) and when he saw it his eyes went so wide and he said to me "Wow, thats so cool! Thank you!" I went a bit quiet then and forgot to ask for my autograph!  Silly me! But Lij noticed my Frodo pic and said "Do you want me to sign that for you?" I was like "yes please"! He signed and then gave me a hug! I was so made up!

The movie was excellent.. really violent and brutal but very well made and acted, I cant wait to see it again. The Q & A was interesting, tho' I'd have liked Lij to have said more! As he was leaving I shot after him and said to him that i loved the film and he thanked me and then was gone. Me and my friend Beth went outside and met and got a pic with Charlie, then Elijah came out, waved and got in his car. All in all, a brilliant day! I also got to meet Joss Whedon, which I was so excited about as I love Buffy and Angel!

I'll put some pics up later and i also have an even better story to tell from London last night - Ive got to do some work now though so ill post that tonight!

So finally I am back from some wonderful days...As Jo told you, everything was so overwhelming. Jo, greetings, hope you had a great time in London!

The athmosphere was very relaxed and we all had a very good place at the redcarpet and when Lexi arrived, she reckognized some of the ladies and brought the boys (Charlie and Leo) directly to us. So I let them sign my EII book. (Lucky me, that they didn`t realise what they were signing )
There were only about 150 people and nobody was pushing or reacted in a strange way
You have already seen tons of pictures, so only a few of mine:
My camera is like sh***, so they are not so good:

The red carpet "Before Elijah"

When Lijah arrived, he went straightly to the other side of the small street to the fans, that was so nice of him

Then he came to us:

He said "Hello" and I gave him the book to sign. He said "Oh you bought the hard copy, thats great" ...

The first thing I realised, that he is so thin! He is a bitt taller than me, but so very, very small..like a child.

And he wore those "old, ugly" shoes we all know from different events...

After that they did the "official" shootings - you have all seen the pics - and we ran to get our places in the cinema.

The movie was very good and I cried at the end. Some extremly violent scenes, and an overusing of the word "f******, but I could understand Matts feelings and why it was so easy for him to fall into that "firm" and that charismatic guy. Some people were not happy with Charlies accent, but I cannot say anything about that, because I am no native speaker.

When Lexi introduced the actors, Lijah jumped down the staircase (I only tracked some air, it was on side where had my seat) and ran to her, hugged her like mad and told us: "It is her birthday. lets sing"! So we all had to sing...

Afterwards mainly questions about the violence. Elijah: "America has no violence. We only have weapons." Lexi: "For the people it does not look so brutal when you shoot someone, than using your fist."

Elijah is NOT into sports or a special team.

Lexi got a phone call of Lijahs agent that he interested in doing that movie - she was overwhelmed.

I made some pictures of inside, but they are on my other camera, I hope they will be good, the light was very bad.

Elijah is such a nice person and he makes it so easy for you to talk to him.

I am so happy that I decided to go, it was a great time and we all had much fun.
