who are your all time top five authors? ok i realise im sounding a bit like the guy from high fidelity (played by the lovely john cusack,) but anyway, im interested....

here are mine

1)JRR Tolkien
2)George Orwell
3)Jane Austen
4)William Shakespere (well, he's more of a playwright but i love him)
5)Lewis Carroll

i'm sure theres more but i have to limit it. does anyone else read the classics?

i don't think i've read enough books to answer this question, but considering all of the ones i have read so far, these are my top five fav authors...
1. J. K. Rowling (you knew this was coming!)
2. Francesca Lia Block
3. Charlotte Bronte (so what if she only wrote one book?)
4. Philip Pullman
5. Jeff Noon

I also love Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Pullman, but they didnt quite make the top 5.

I like murder plots and so on, so i like people like Dean Koontz, and Patricia Cornwell, i LOVE horror and black humour... Who else better than Stephen King? And of coarse, i could never forget Tolkine's LOTR!
