Has any one read this book? It's titled Mthology: Timeless tales of Gods and Heros by Edith Hamilton.
I have to read it and write a journal thingy for it as a summer assignment. So has anyone here read it? And is it any good?

I've read it but not recently. It was for a school thing. It was pretty good though, I remember. I especially like the one about horses...His name started with a P, I think? God of the Sea...aw well, duno. But its a good read if your into that kinda thing.

I was supposed to read this for freshman English last year, but it turned out it wasn't really requiered. (Of course, I found this out halfway through the book... ) Anyway, it's okay, a little slow at times. But if you're into Greek culture, or old religions, it's really interesting. Aphrodite, Hercules, Persephone, etc..

LOL
You read that book in History or in English? That book seems to be interesting, here in my country the main part of the books we have to read are very boring.

Haven't read it, but it sounds like a book with some basic Greek mythology. Part of upbringing people! If you don't know about mythology: Shame on you! Drag your lazy ass to the library or bookstore and start reading! Don't just walk, run! Professor tolkien would be sooo mad if he knew this!! If you have any appreciation for LotR you should really read up on your mythology. After all, that what tolkien intended to write: mordern mythology. Lots of aspects in tolkiens work are derived from or inspired by Norse, Celtic, Saxon, German, Greek and Oriental myths. And don't forget Arthurian and Carolingian legends. Even the Alchemist's Ring and Wagners 'Ring of the Nibelung' aren't safe from J.R.R.

i simply mythologu and legends
As i live on a greek-spoken isle, i know quite much greek mythology , but for my part i've read a bit more of the classical roman, coz it has some differences from the greek.
i've also started studyin northern and celtic mythology (i prefer the celtic one of those two), and i'm also reading Die Nibelungen and basically some legends and myths from all around the earth.
i'm also into cryptozoology, the unofficial "science" of studyin animals that have not been proven to have existed(ie dragons, unicorn, fairies, merfolk, dwarves, bigfoots...)
Unfortunately there's no actual job i can practice if i'm good at all these, the best thing i can achieve is to get a place as a university lecturer....but that's just not me
