| Have you tried reading Harry Potter? Because I hate fantasy books, but Harry Potter is just...wonderful! LOTR may be hard to read at first, but I think it's good once you get used to him putting in a lot of details...

i have never met one person whose read Harry Potter (at least the entire first book) and didn't like it. thats why the series is one of my favs (along with LOTR).
my other favorite books are The Rose and The Beast by Francesca Lia Block, Kissing the Witch by Emma Donaghue, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle, The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, and The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. this list is always due to change, though!

Fav book is "The Stand" Stephen King
I know its long and wordy, but I am a big fan of "end of the world as we know it" type stories.
Never had any urge to read any harry potter, too old for that.

I am reading The Green Mile and it is REALLY good. Another fave of mine! The Secret Garden is quite good! Gee all the books I forgot! Tortilla Flat is good and The Diary of Anne Frank. I am a big WW2/hitler buff. not that I support hitler but I find him to be interesting and how such a horrible man came to power and such. i am a nerd i know. SHH!

Quote from: punKerniKle_miSS on July 08, 2003, 12:30:56 am Um...Hard to say... I think its probably The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner. That or The Seeing Stone by Kevin Crossley-Holland, or A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler)
|
Ooh, that's sweet, the seeing stone! I've studied arthurian legends and literature and this is one of a trilogy right? There are two parts and he still has to write part three. If anybody likes historic or a bit fantasy kind of stuff, you should really read the Merlin trilogy by Mary Stuart. It's amazingly well researched and accurate as well as magically written.

My favorite books? My number one favorite is Green Rider by Kristen Britain. It is a wonderful fantasy type book. I am very excited because the long awaited sequel is coming out in Aug. As soon as I see it I'm going to buy it. I also like Tolkien, the Harry Potter books, the Cat Who mysteries, the mysteries by Rita Mae Brown and other mysteries, I also like some hisorical fiction and non-fiction sometimes too. If you haven't gussed already I do a lot of reading!

| Never too old for those books! My mom loves them, and she's in her 50s..she also reads Stephen King and mystery/suspense books.. But different strokes for different folks I guess
