Yeah, I agree that the Hobbit is more of just a fun adventure story.. it's not quite as serious, or in-depth as the LotR trilogy.. but it's still a great read. So fun.. I love Bilbo and the dwarves!
The Silmarillion IS a harder read, I won't lie. And you really have to have somewhat of a knack for remembering a lot of names and facts at once.. or you may get lost! I know when I first started reading, I had to go over and over all the Ainur so many times before I got it.. I actually sat in English class quizing myself one day.. lol, yes, I'm sad, I know. But if you can manage it, it's *such* a good read.. so much history! And sadnes.. and just great stories.
