Do you ever read or write fan fiction? For me fan fiction is a way of coping with things that happen in the canon of books, tv programmes and films that I dislike or a way of having what I wish would happen. If you don't like something simply rewrite it!!!
If Harry died in book 7 I bet plenty of fan fiction writers will write 'denial' fic in which he is still alive.

I'm sure they would and it would be interesting to see how they handle it. All depends on how Rowling killed him, I expect.
I have a fancy that Ron and Hermione would name their first son, Harry.
Even if she DID do Harry in, maybe she could give Ron and Hermion their own series... Tolkien started a new series with Sauron coming back, but canned it before he even started well.
It's possible.

Ron and Hermione being together is actually one of the things I am in denial about, LOL. Because I read Ron slash.
However a spin off series is an interesting idea and could be a possibility.

Only if Harry dies, of course. I've wondered if she would even keep writing, but I don't keep up with the whole realm much unless a movie or book is coming out. Has Ms. Rowling mentioned whether or not she plans to keep writing? it would be a pity if she stopped.

Personally, I can't stop writing and I doubt she can, either.
I really think she'll do other things. Who knows where she'll take us!

I agree. But I don't recall ever hearing what her future plans are. However, I can't imagine an author that talented would not continue writing.
| i read an interview where she nearly gauranteed she would continue writing (but of course i can't find it now...timing never was my strong suit). i'm pertty sure she said she was taking a bit of a break after Harry (yes, after Harry...i feel 7 is most definitely the end) to spend time with her new family, but after that she is going to start up again. i hope she writes another series. she has obviously mastered the technique of including foreshadowing and little clues that make series great...it would be awesome if she had another successful one.

I am sur I've read somewhere that she had writers block while writing the Hrry Potters, and she took a break to write something 'completely different' and she really enjoyed it, so maybe in a few years we'll see some of this.

Stepping away from something is the best way in the world to over come writers' block. I would really like to see what she writes when she isn't writing Harry. Did she ever say what it was?

I think there is plenty of fan fic out there which ISN'T slash, I myself am a rampant slash lover but lots of people don't like it and write other stuff.

I neither read nor write slash, and I write a LOT of fanfic. There are lots of us out there, HG. We may be more difficult to find, but we're out there. I think there's room out there for all tastes and genres.
I've never written anything Harry Potter, though. LOTR, Jeremiah, and challenges, but no HP yet.

I'd be glad to help you, if I Can. I help young writers all the time.
If you would like to see some of what can be done with G rated fanfic, here's an example.
http://www.cyberrach.net/untilspringlinksslinks.htm
It's just an idea of what can be done. Just by skimming this first chapter, I think you can get an idea of what can be done.
