It's a charming book! I loved the character of Mr Darcy but I think that if I met a person like him in real life I wouldn't like him. He is grumpy but charming. In the film Colin Firth was just like Mr Darcy in the book.

As a custom title for me, useful I would like it to be. Something descriptive, about me I give: I am "The Limerick Lady."

I love Pride and Prejudice! I've read all of Jane Austen's books, but this was by far my favorite. Elizabeth Bennett is one of my favorite literary characters. I mentioned that in the favorite characters thread a while back.
WARNNG! SPOILERS AHEAD!
There are some great scenes in the novel. Like the proposal scene when she's so angry at him she's made herself sick. And, the scene between Elizabeth and Darcy's aunt when she refuses to say she'd never marry Darcy. And, when he returns to Pemberley earlier and finds her there.
Have I mentioned that I love this book???

I completely understand you!
The scenes you mentioned are indeed great.I also like when Lizzie en Darcy dance for the first time. Or when Mr. collins proposes (this is also hilarious in the bbc series btw).
And of course like Celebrian mentioned, all teh scenes with Lady Catherine de Bourgh.
I'm totally crazy about the book

Ah, Pride and Prejudice! I made it a point to read it last year in senior english as one of my independent reading books. I was like, "Well, this is a classic, and I need to read it." And I really liked it!
As someone else said, Elizabeth Bennet is one of my favorite literary characters ever. She's smart, witty, and knows what she wants and doesn't let others push her around. I love her.
I love how the story progresses, too... just when you think you know exactly what's going on, something happens that changes everything!
Mr. Collins just makes me laugh. I also rather like Mr. Bennet. He's calculating, but funny at the same time. And, in the end, you gotta love Darcy, too.
This really is probably one of the best romances of all time, without being gross. Haha. I love it.

The July Fellowship atop Edoras.
I went there... and back again. New Zealand RULES!

I totally agree. It is brilliant how Jane Austen combines romance with sarcasm and humour in her book. It's so well written.
I also like Mr Bennet. He reminds me a bit of my own dad though my mother isn't that irritating lol. He is calm, intelligent and so funny.
