Hey, guys!
You should really read this book if you haven't already. I really fell in-love with it on the first page. Let me tell, you this author, is just brilliant. If you didn't know who he was, and if he was indeed a he, and you read this book you would think a actual Geisha wrote this!
You really learn a ton as well. Like history, and about the Geisha culture. Before this book, I didn' even know what one was, lol. And now, I know more that the rest of my family, hehe. That feels good.
It's about this woman who was brung into this world of Geisha when she was little and her mother was dying. Her Father was old so he too would soon die. She is sent off with her older sister but they are seperated.
You grow up with her, and learn with her. She falls in love, just like anyone else, her virginaty is sold, and before she actually becomes a Geisha, goes through many hardships. Mostly through the Geisha living with her. And becomes best friends with "Pumpkin".
Wonderful book. What did you all think of it? If you read it that is..

I love this book, it's one of my favorites. I've read it for the first time during a holiday four years ago. A friend of mine had it and recommended it to me. I've re-read it a few times since, I never get bored of it. I can't wait to see the film.

I really wish I got to see the movie. But even though I love movies, I don't get to see them that much because I can't drive yet. (Taking drivers ed) And my parents don't like to go to the movies, and my friends don't like it, so ... I can't go very much, lol. I know, I know, excuses, excuses.

I read the book(in English, the original version, a lady lend me her book) one month ago(Jan.12) and it is a great and sad story at the same time. I enjoyed the movie, the adaptation from the novel is very faithful. I don't really understand why the critics give the movie only one star!! Perhaps the three main actresses in the movie are Chinese and not Japanese, but that is not an excuse. The music is beautiful. Probably, I re-read the book soon, this time in my language, Spanish.

I just finished this book today, actually! So it's ironic that this thread has suddenly surfaced! Haha.
I loved this book! Like, seriously loved it. It was such a beautiful, sad, and enchanting story. I learned so much about Japan and Geisha. The characters were brilliant, and I thought it was interesting to read things about WWII from the Japanese point of view.
I haven't seen the movie yet (wanted to read the book first!), but as soon as it comes out on DVD, I plan to rent it and watch it. It looks good.

Speaking of, when does it come out on dvd?
Did that arthur write anything else? I"m not good with names but he was so talented I feel inspired to read another book of his.
You know, that happens to me a lot. I watch or read something and come here a little afterwards and BAM, there's a thread about it.
