Hunchback of Notre-Dame

Hi guys!
Last week during fall break I finished "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" Sure, sure I read it because I had found out that it is (or at least used to be at some point in time, because I've got no clue when or where he stated that! - Do any of you? Would totally interest me!) one of Lij's favourite books AND one could blame me that I LOVED it only for that reason, but that would be so not true! Have any of you read it? When I started no learn more about Claude Frollo I was so convinced he could be played by Lij so well! You know how he is so sad as a character and only his eyes are very often explained to be vivid. Oh, could totally picture it! I'm so overwhelmed by this book, would love to talk about it

Wow! It sounds like you really enjoyed that book. I do remember reading of or hearing elijah saying that one of his favorite books is Hunchback of Notre-Dame. And ever since i have wanted to read that book, but i just haven't gotten the chance. (I mean it: He just has the best taste for things. You can really learn a lot from him.) And now that you've read the book and say its great, that inspires me to read it also! Thank you for posting this thread. Im going to pick up the book as soon as i can and start reading. I never did see the animated movie, so i dont know too much about it. But i'll post more thoughts when i read some! It sounds wonderful. Glad you liked it! God Bless,

Wow, I didn't even know it was on Lij's list. I totally forgot that! I've read it though -- the unabridged version, actually -- and really loved it. I don't remember a whole lot because it was a few years ago, but I remember it was very, very different from the Disney cartoon. (No surprise there.) I remember I really loved it though.

Glad to hear that the thread was of some sort of use, sadieladie! Thanks!!!! Can't wait for your opinion! Glad you liked it, PHF! I read the unabridged version as well, I guess for the shorter one they took out a lot of the describtions of Paris and the Notre-Dame, they were so wonderful though! It's so true what you said about his taste! It starts to get me into different sorts of music, too. One last hint for the book: get tissues, both for joy and sadness! Enjoy Jules

One word: eBay. Or amazon.com (which I'm heading to right now as a matter of fact -- long story)

If you liked the Disney movie, and like happy endings, then you won't like this book!

I read this book several years ago. It is so good, and sad.
If you like this book, you should read Les Miserables. Victor Hugo was an amazing writer.

Thanks for the beautiful siggie and icon, Deenan!
