Thanks for this thread Carina!
So far I'm loving uni. It's so much fun! I love my course, I don't mind the work because it's interesting and I really feel I'm getting somewhere and making progress, which is what I was really hoping for. I'm living in halls of residence and that is such fun - it's great to have people around nearly all the time.
Did I mention that I love it?

The campus looks beautiful there Carina. Our campus has old parts and new parts and the old parts are beautiful. I'm studying Irish and French. What did you study?
I think halls here are mainly reserved for first years - when I was applying they did say that they gave preference to them, and there were more people applying this year than they could give rooms to.

I think it's too early to say...I would quite like to teach, or maybe work in the media. Don't really know, to be honest.
Did you enjoy your course? Everyone I've spoken to doing law says it's pretty intensive.
Ah, I see about the Halls...that's great that you got such a low rent in Germany! Did you enjoy your year abroad?

This is a great idea for a topic!
I just moved from the-middle-of-nowhere-oklahoma to Boston, MA! Lets just say, its a whole different world here. I'm going to an art school here and it's honestly the best experience of my life. I highly suggest to anyone who lives in the U.S. to visit this city. Plus, this is where Elijah's character in 'Green Street Hooligans' is from! Right now, there is this big Harry Potter exhibition downtown where you can go see tons of props from the movies. It's truly amazing.

Seyma - I think your uni looks really pretty. I'm glad you like your experiments. I have a question - is your ini close to your home, or did you have to move away? I'm studying French and Irish by the way. :
Domlijah - art school, wow! Do you like it? The exhibitions and things sounds really fun.

I study at the U of Vienna (Austria) , which is about three hours away from my hometown. I love it in Vienna, it's a big city (at least for Austrian proportions ) and there's so much to see! Right now there is a huge student's protest at my uni and it's gradually spreading all over the country. The conditions under which students have to study here are getting worse every semester. The entrance examinations are way too hard, but that is kind of the result of having the fees removed. Since you don't have to pay for going to uni now, there are too many people and there is hardly a lecture where 30% of the people don't have to sit on the floor. So students decided to block the biggest lecture hall in Austria until politicians are willing to cooperate and take measures against what is happening. They have been "occupying" the lecture hall for about a week! now, but the problem is that it's pretty difficult to take these students seriously when they drink/smoke and in the lecture hall and bedaub the walls. I wonder what this protest will end like. On the one hand I think it's important and good that students are drawing attention to the bad study conditions, on the other hand, vandalism is not a good basis for discussion.
Anyway...I study English and Theater-, Film- and Media Science and this is the Uni:

Kathi - your university looks beautiful! You're lucky that you don't have to pay fees - mine are about Ģ3000 a year, and as well as that I have pay Ģ2800 for my accomodation! I have a student loan but it means I'll be leaving uni with almost Ģ25,000 worth of debt, which doesn't seem like a great start.
Carina - I agree that the work you do during the year should count. It does here - first year accounts for 10% of our overall mark.

Mary - Thanks sweetie ! I cannot find its more photos,if I can do,I'll add more photos ... But,I don't like there much ! ...
My uni is far from home and city-centre.I have to go by bus and it takes about 15-20 minutes. If it was close ! ... What abot yours ? And,its great that your course is foreign languages.I admit;if I were you,I would be happier ! ...
Carina - Are you serious ? It isn't so beautiful.So-so ! I bet,you cannot never know and have never heard its name before. My uni is in Turkey (of corse !) and it is smaller than other brillant universites. But I like it even though it isn't so great ! ... And ... What will you be a lawyer or a judge ? I am sure, you have to study hard like me and memorize alot things ! ...

Ladies, I love your colleges. They all look great. I studied Medicine and loved those years. This is a picture of the main entrance of the Medicine College in Granada (Spain):

I liked chemistry too, and even thought of studying it, but as you said itīs hard to get a job. It takes 6 years at uni to become a doctor and 4 more years to get a specialization.
