There are indisputable differences between men and women, e.g. physical strength or multitasking abilities. I don't believe in equality for equality's sake, meaning that if my house were burning down, I'd prefer to have a bunch of hulking men chop the door down with an axe and rescue me, rather than some heavily burdened woman.
I'm more a humanist than feminist. For nearly every criticism I have of men, there is a corresponding acknowledgement of women's shortcomings. I don't favor one over the other, I don't favor equality in every single situation.
Men and women are different but equal; equal, but different.

Quote from: Chanterella on September 25, 2003, 05:03:35 pm I think I am. A bit...
And I absolutely agree with this quote: "See, the problem is that God gave men both a brain and a p.e.n.i.s, and only enough blood to run one at a time" ~~ Robin Williams ~~

What do you think? What can men do that women can't? What's your opinion? Speak your mind.

Ummm...Alter said it all. But I'll tell you one thing, I have never and will never yell at a guy for leaving the toilet seat up. They never say anything about us leaving it down! The exception is when there is one guy living in the house and more than one woman, or vice versa. Then it's just out of courtesy to put it the way that everyone else uses it.

ah ha! i have an oppinion to offer! he he he! i am not feminist! i think i have had too much male influence over my life! or i just disregarded my mums influence and went to my dad and my brothers! anywho! shameful as it might be to admit it i find jokes at womans expense funny but jokes at mens expense i find pathetic because they just arnt funny! i think i like how billy connoly put it... (this is no where near exact words but i think its the genral thing) "woman complain how its called a man hole cover. when i see woman up to their knees in Sh!t all day then we can call it a person whole cover but until then its a fcuking man hole cover" i think thats the kinda feminist movement i find annoying! making a fuss about stupid things like that! who really cares! well evidently they do but ah well! i am a "feminist" in the sense that i dont think it is fair to discriminate woman in the workplace and i hate that woman are taken advantage of with like mechanics and stuff- but then its our own responsibility to learn that stuff if we want to be treated fairly!
k i probably sound like the biggest moron but hey i am bored!

That's ridiculous. No one can know everything about everything.
We have to trust architects to build bridges that won't collapse; we have to trust doctors to give us the correct medicines; we have to trust Dell not to give us a malfunctioning motherboard; we have to believe that mechanics won't charge us for unnecessary services or for parts they did not replace.
We cannot all of have law, medical, or engineering degrees to make such educated decisions -- we have to trust others to make them for us, and mechanics are responsible for "learning their stuff" and treating people fairly. To say otherwise imposes an impossible educational standard on women.

i get ur point alter and its true but i meant it like they dont do it to men because they know they wont be able to get awaywith it. i mean woman are subject to discrimination because of differing interests to men! like a woman could rip a man off for perfume. i guess what i am saying is that if feminists want to say 'we get ripped off' its a bit weak because men dont get treated fairly because they are men they get treated fairly because mechanics know they cant get away with it. and i know it is because they are men but you know its because in genral men know about cars. do you get me?!? i dont think i even understand what i am saying!

I'm the same as Eggo, lol. I'm more of a humanist than a feminist, but I do have some very feminist views.
Equally, I have some very religion-based views, which apply to myself only. I don't "look-down" on anyone else, depending on what they may choose to do - it's a personal choice. (Don't believe in sex before marriage, don't believe in abortion, don't believe in taking recreational drugs or smoking)
But that's kinda digressing
So yeah, I suppose I am some feminist, mostly humanist.

That's why men wear ties? LOL! I didn't know! That's funny.
Anyway, here are some more quotes:
Women have always been the primary victims of war. Women lose their husbands, their fathers, their sons in combat. ~~ Hillary Clinton ~~
