Knowing What the Lyrics Mean

So . . . me and Jess were talking about "Mr. Brightside" the other day, and we decided to try to interpret the lyrics. LOL. It turned out to be pretty fun, and I almost think our interpretation was right. We decided that the guy who wrote the song was gay, and that's why he was so torn up and confused and imagining the guy, too. That's why it says, "I'm coming out of my cage," at the beginning. Aren't we bright? LOL. Anyways, I was thinking that a lot of songs would be interesting to interpret.
Now, I've already told you my interpretation of "Mr. Brightside."
What do you think "Drops of Jupiter" by Train is really all about?

I LOVE Mr. Brightside - interesting interpretation! I see how that might work.. Although, to be fair, I think you'd have to go with bisexual.
"Drops of Jupiter" is a love song about a beautiful, alien female creature who's missing her homeland 'out there in the atmosphere.'

I'm a teenage assassin executing some fun In the cult of the life of crime. Doesn't that line sum it up? I don't know. Can someone explain ANY song by Radiohead to me? I've tried, but it just seems like a bunch of random lines put together. That they were on drugs, is the only explanation I can come up with...

I think what Bille Joe said was that St. Jimmy was kind of a split personality with the Jesus of Suburbia, that it was like the rogue side of yourself looking to break free and be a "teenage assassin executing some fun", as the lyrics say. He also said, since the CD is a huge punk-rock opera (which is freaking GENIUS) that as the songs changed he wanted the mood to change. If it was sad, he wanted the music to make you feel devastated, if it was happy, completely overjoyed... or, in St. Jimmy's case, like your evil other side.
That was fun.

This lonely existence paves the way For the heart of hearts must beat be brave While this quiet lightning storm Wreaks the harvest gold we tried to sow And so it begins
The days do come, but the years do go Take good care of your freedom, you never know

Well some of the lyrics on Kid A and Amnesiac are actually random lines because they were pulled out of a hat! Mxamatosis (sp?) from Hail to the Thief is Thom Yorke having a dig at the media 'No one likes a smart arse, we all like stars'. Subterranean Homesick Alien is the story of the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy Books, the whole of Ok Computer is influenced by the books, as the expression 'OK computer' is used in the books, and Marvin the robot is referred to as a paranoid android.
That's all I can think of for now, hope that helps!

I was wondering about that song, isn't one of the lyrics 'stubble on my sticky lips'? There are rumours that Alex from Franz Ferdinand is gay/bi but maybe they were just started after people heard that song!

Yeah, a couple of years later... but who cares Let's bring the life into this thread again!
I think it's about a boy (DUUUH) who's hurt by this girl and he gets depressed and feels like dying... and he cuts... and she's like a bitch pretending she might come back, but she damn well knows she won't...
