Simon & Garfunkel

Ever since I really got in Simon & Garfunkel (about six months ago) I debated over making a thread here or not. I don't know how many responses I'll get, but I figured they ought to at least have one post dedicated to them, as they are one of the BEST groups ever.
Anyone else like them? What are your favourite songs? Have you seen them live?

...people tend to see it as a shock that i like them, but hey. i love their greatest hits album. that one's perfect. also have 'bridge over troubled water', but like greatest hits best.
specially like 'the boxer',though it always makes me think 'lij lij lij...'
and for emily, whenever i may find her. i like the soft melancholic atmosphere.

LOL! What does that mean - we ought to stick to music made by our contemporaries?
In that case... hand me some Britney, Linkin Park, Avril, and Sum 41.
Except don't.
I think their music is timeless; the themes of their songs aren't just confined to the sixties and seventies.
I love "the Boxer."
Anddd and and "I Am a Rock." Sooo gorgeous.
I have the Greatest Hits as well, and Bridge Over Troubled Water & Bookends on vinyl. I need to expand my collection!
I am in love with the Bookends theme, though!
Time it was and what a time it was.... it was. A time of innocence - a time of confidences....
Long ago it must be, I have a photograph Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you.

And "America" and "Fakin' It"!
They're touring the U.S. this summer - I am going to buy tickets for the 7 July show in TX.

I'm not a big fan , but it's really good stuff, they're classics
love Mrs Robinson and The Boxer too.
When I was a little child I used to think that "The sound of silence" was a song of The Beatles, how stupid

I love Simon & Garfunkel. One or two years ago I was always listening to their collection. They've also named a song after me I love their ballads, Kathy's Song, For Emily, Scarborough Fair, Mrs Robinson and Bridge over Troubled Water.
But above all Sound of Silence. That's a real masterpiece.

Quote from: cuina on May 12, 2004, 01:00:59 pm They had a tour around last year and everyone assumed it would be their last, as their relationship was strained. (So the media said anyway; I don't know because I don't know much about their personal lives.)
They recently announced another tour, Old Friends, in the U.S. and my mom and I bought tickets today for the Houston show. I'm sooo happy. They were more expensive than the Paul McCartney tickets!
But they're awesome and I'm sure they will be incredibly awesome.

LoL! I never thought that, but when Napster was first out, "Mrs. Robinson" was often credited to the Beatles. It has a similar sound but it's definitely not the Beatles.

Ceciliaaaaa, you're breaking my heart... That's a great song.
Quote from: Pheonix Phyre on May 12, 2004, 05:07:47 pm I only have one CD though. The Bridge Over Troubled Water one. I could listen to it for ages, which I do.

You should buy Bookends. I love that album so much! I just have the record though, but it's so incredible.
(I'm gushing, I know....!)

OMG! I'm so happy you started this thread! S&G were my very first favorite group. I (my mother) have been listening to them since I was born (about the time Bookends was released). Yes, I'm old, and yes, I know them well.
Their relationship is strained and has been for many years. My personal opinion is that they will tour every view years or so until one of them dies...the demand is incredible and they can't seem to say no to their fans...
