you should always try to be better
even when everyone says your that good, don't believe it, and always keep practicing
sometimes i play in front of a mirror and it really shows wrong finger positions, and it's easier to correct yourself

I really need some help. Im takin lesons but when im there I never wanna play in front of the guy........ NEVER. I really wanna continue....... but that would be stupid! i wanna quite too...... like maybe teache myself...... but i dont wanna......
Can anyone help me out? suggestions? wht should i do?

yeh i've been playing the guitar for nearly a year, i can do quite alot of the techniques and stuff, but im really bad at them wen it comes to playing them in songs i can play open chords,barre chords,hammer ons. pull offs slides nd stuff. power chords are always gd wen i'm stressed!
i have an electric strat- silvery/grey colour- limited edtion i might add! he he! i think it's from america- im from england btw!

Hey, there you are! I've been lookin' for ya. (It's curio).
I don't play the guitar - sorry - but I've got a hankering to learn it at some point. Hmm...I'm sure there must be tutorials online. Have you tried googling it? Like maybe the phrase "online guitar tutorial" or something similar? "Online guitar lessons" maybe? I don't know what else to suggest.

I used to play!  I still can play cords and all, I just got to get my guitar fixed up. It is very nice. Just needs new strings. I play the clarinet now though.

Neat, we finally found each other. I haven't really been to the other board in a while...well, I went today. That was okay.
Genius as usual? That's very flattering. I'm just a procrastinator though, so I usually look for shortcuts to things online if I can get 'em. Heh. 
I want to try guitar but no one will teach me, I don't want to pay for lessons, and I don't think anyone has one up at school. Too bad, really. What made you decide to start up?

you can buy guitar lesson books too and there are always tabs online for you to play, lessons really help though for me to see all the techinques and everything is done up close but hey
|

The place I would start is by locating a friend who plays guitar! That is always handy... they can show you how to play songs and things... sometimes being shown how to play a song is easier than reading off the guitar tabs. As other peoples have said buying a chord book would also help!
I was in the same kind of position in grade 9, my guitar teacher would make me improvise to the 12 bar blues and I hated it, mainly because I didn't want to make a fool of myself! But after I quit the lessons I continued playing the guitar and I still play and know a lot, just by teaching myself songs or getting my friend to teach me them!

I own 2 guitars (electric and acustic) but Im going to learn how to play them this summer...I got them for christmas last year..

Ok, if your parents are paying for lessons for you, don't quit them. If you're really serious about being a guitarist, lessons are such a huge help. You don't want to go teaching yourself bad habits now do you? That's what happens when you try and teach yourself an instrument. Why don't you want to play in front of him? Are you embarassed by how you play? Trust me, you should consider yourself lucky for having a teacher. You need to learn theory, and nobody wants to try and teach themselves theory  .

I try to play guitar Ive been playing for two months not that good at all because Ive picked hard stuff to learn my teacher says...mostly zep and some floyd. I can do the beginning of wish you were here and the first solo ok ish eh and some techinques the 4th finger bend is still hard when I play the beginning of since I've been loving you. I have an electric fender stratocaster that I completely love

yeh i was the same! i wanted to play clapton and cream and jimi in my first year! and i am really really impatient! he he he! but my guitar teacher gave in! i was one stubborn one when it came to guitar! i feel bad now cause i never would play in any performances for my guitar teacher and he would offer me good parts but i just wasnt doing it to perform i guess!
