Well, since I listen to a lot of rock music and all, I prefer the male voice for singing.

Depends on the voice and the type of music. For classical or classical-pop, I tend to prefer female voices. For garage rock (most of the time, the YeahYYs are an exception) I tend to prefer male voices.

Do not speak to us of the greatness of poetry, Of the torches wisping in the underground, Of the structure of vaults upon a point of light. There are no shadows in our sun, Day is desire and night is sleep. There are no shadows anywhere.

The majority of the time I would rather listen to males; in particular Billy Corgan -- so my vote goes to the boys. I generally prefer their voices, though the lead singer from Veruca Salt has one of the best I've ever heard.

Male voices by far. All my favourite singers are male. I don't even really like any female singers. It's nothing againt their voices or anything, it's just that all my favourite bands only have boys singing.

i like both if they are sweet... i mean, i generally listen to men's voices (red hot, deftones, system of a down, REM...) dunno why but when i listen to sweet music, you know, songs where the singer is nearly whispering, i like both, for example, Sinead O'Connor has a beautiful voice, elliot smith, gary jules, damien rice, mary black (i think that her name) beth gibbons (from portishead) but, yeah, i have to admit it, i think i prefer male voices dunno why...

I used to think it was indifferent to me when a (male) friend of mine told me how he preferred female voices. After that, I began thinking that me too, I prefer a female voice. That's probably true. I own much more music sung by women than by men. I think female voices can reach a kind of... umh, perfection. One of the most beautiful voices I think is that of Teresa Salguiero, the singer of the Portuguese band Madredeus. That's a really heavenly voice. I appreciate also some stronger as that of Amy Lee. On the male side, my favourite male voice is that of Mattias Lindblom (Swedish - Vacuum band). Also the inforgettable Freddy Mercury.

Honestly I like both about the same, but I said male because when a guy sings and he's really good he can melt my heart. My former boyfriend sang to me backstage durning a musical (Bye, Bye Birde) we were both in and it was just really sweet and I was glad it was dark backstage because I know I was blushing. Still friends with him by the way, we just weren't meant for each other. Grew apart after I went to college and then he went to college and we grew apart even more.
Well that got off topic. Oh well.
