it depends what kind of music. When I'm listening to J-pop I prefer female voices, but all other music mostly male voices...exept for the ones that their voices go so high it sounds like someone had to twist their balls to get the note

I prefer male singers generally, but I'd say my music collection is 60% male 40% female, so it's not a huge difference. Sometimes female singers bore me when they are too retiring or "floaty." I like a sister with some bite.

Well...Since male singers dominate the music genre I listen to, I'd have to say male. I mean, besides Courtney Love, The Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Belle and Sebastian...I don't know of many good female voices I like.

I dig female rock singers. I think i may have voted to male though on accident. I can't remember.

The majority of my CD's are male, and I do prefer males over females. The only female singer CD's I have are country, which I never listen to anymore haha. Females I can only stand if they're country normally. Though I like Michelle Branch, and the singer from Evanescence is good too. That's about it though. (Can't stand Britney Spears or Hilary Duff... bleh!) It's males for me, definitely.

The problem is that there aren't enough women singers in Rock. Just because they aren't as pleantiful doens't make them worse than males.

Males; I've always preferred male vocals over female.
The only women singers I really like are Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac) and Sheryl Crow. I've not listened to much music with female lead vocals.

Female.
Although, having said this, the majority of my cd collection is probably male. But not by a huge difference. And there are plenty of Female's in rock, just most of them people don't know about.

Male. I love barbershop quartets and acapella groups. And any boys with a true bass voice are gods. OH MY GOD I love bass voices.

Yeah, I'm getting used to a lot of bass voices now. I'm beginning to actually like them, because I never used to. But I still prefer female vocals to men's of course. My favourites definately being Jessicka from Jack Off Jill and Otep.

Hmm, good question, good question. I guess I prefer male voices over female. I like raw vocals, I don't usually like pretty stuff. Even though I really like Kim Deals very pretty voice. And some guys, like Billy Corgan, John Lennon, and Frank Black, have pretty voices and I like them.
Soooo, anyway, I vote male.

I agree that females sound prettier. But I love to hear a guy with a good voice because it's not as expected as females to be able to sing really good in a way. Or maybe that's just how I feel or what it's like around here..  I dunno what exactly I'm trying to say lol. But anyway, I voted male actually because guys who can sing good and aren't araid to show off their talent rock! However I think there's certain songs out there that are better off sang by a certain sex and that sex only. I mean, for example, would "Into the West" be quite as good with a male instead?
