Underrated/Overrated bands

I think Joydrop is a very underrated band. Has anyone even heard of them? I think they're great.
I also think Matthew Good Band were very underrated.
And sometimes I think the Smashing Pumpkins were underrated, but that's just me 
|
And I'll keep digging, till I feel something.

there are lots. personally, i think there are most overrated bands.

I don't want to offend anyone. B/c I'm more into indepenant stuff, and a lot of the bands I find 'overrated' are popular with people here. I just don't like bands that are shoved down people's thoughts or labeled to be this great rock band when there are so many other bands that are better.

That's true, but it really shouldn't offend anyone to say that a band they like is overrated though, it's your own oppinion, you just don't think they're as good as they're labled to be. It's not like your saying they're the worst band in the world

I think Nirvana is overrated too, i think they're pretty good but Nirvana shirts/patches ect have now become kind of a fashion statement, at my school anyways

face it, if kurt hadn't been a teen idol and hadn't died tragicaly, Nirvana wouldn't be half as loved.

I think Metallica is overrated.
I do like some of their songs but sometimes it just seems like their shouting too much instead of singing.

Nirvana is overrated. Along with-Good Charlotte, Sum41, & New Found Glory.
Underrated-Massive Attack. (They're so amazing & different, and so many people have not heard of them)

I'd say placebo is underrated in the Us, maybe not in other parts of the world though.

I think that Good Charlotte is , but not New Found Glory. They have been around for years and onlyrecently did MTV group them in the same category as all these other shitty bands.

Well, I don't really like them. But I do feel sorry for them. They have been around for a while and all of a sudden have been stuck in the 'new punk' group. I don't like any of that that 'nu' stuff. Especially the punk rock, b/c they are saying bands like Good Charlotte & Avril Lavigne & All American Rejects are something like the 'Return of rock & roll" Whateber, I think that f*cking ghey.

there are lots of overrated bands out there, many of them already mentioned. some i personally think are way overrated are Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, and the Deftones. they aren't necessarily bad, but they'r certainly not as great as some people make them out to be.
so many underrated bands out there as well. i consider Radiohead one of them. most people have heard their name, but can't recall any of their songs. if they do its usually "Creep", which is a good song, but it certainly doesn't represent what they're capable of now.
Duran Duran and Garbage are other bands that are extremely underrated. Duran Duran is unfortunately only known for their older pop songs from the 80's. their newer cd's show a much darker side to them. same thing can be said for Garbage. they both sing what i like to call pop for the depressed.

I love Garbage. I think Shirley Manson rocks. SHe is a hell of a lot sexier than Gwen Stefani, who I think she gets compared to, being a female lead in a "rock" group, and I personally think she writes better songs too. They are an underrated band.
