Hi 
Sometimes if there's a new movie out that others have already seen, or an (Eli) appearance on TV that the others don't want to read about before they have seen it, SPOILER warnings are posted before and after the text.
Recently I saw on a forum that they had created SPOILER tags, which would make your text black if you put them before and after your text, and if you highlight the text, you can read it.
I thought that was a pretty neat idea and perhaps something we could have here. I'm not sure if anyone sees the necessity or would like that to 'happen' but I thought I'd put the idea out there.

I´ve seen those tags as well and it sounds like a good idea... so it would be great to have it here if it´s technically possible...

Would it work though? I mean, with the different skins, you'd need different colours for it.
Why not just write "Spoiler" above the spoilery bit in very noticable writing? That sounds a lot simpler to me.

that is a great idea carina. like tafika said, it would be difficult with the different skins, but...
what if that option was available on all the skins no matter the background color? just for an example, i'm using the skin "transparency" which is a soft blue/gray. using pink for a spoiler color works fine for me.

this is just a test. can you see this if you don't highlight it?
end spoiler.
do you see it if you don't highlight it? you may have if you don't have the same skin i have. but i can barely see it. maybe new colors could be added to help, but i don't know how much work would be involved, if it can be done at all.

The skins seem to be a problem... I´m using the default one and I can read what you wrote, Deenan...

Thanks Dee. I don't see your text unless I highlight it, I have the first skin, the yellowish one.
On another forum, there is a black and white skin; the text changes to white when someone has the black skin selected and changes to black when someone has the white skin selected.
With the many different skins available here, I'm not sure how much work that would be. 
I wouldn't want to cause anymore work. 
Edit: Hmm, I just read over my first post, and I'm not sure I expressed myself too well. I'll show you what they have

I like this idea! I have the black skin, I forget what it is called, and I saw what you wrote deenan. Actually it stood out like a sore thumb...weird expression!

I think it would be annoying rather than useful.
Because, in spoiler heavy threads you would be forever highlighting everything, which just sounds like a hassle.
I think it's just easier to make sure you point out that what you're writing is a spoiler, it's simpler to not read something than it is to highlight it.
This is just my opinion though.

how about a forum specifically for spoilers that way anyone who wants to everything right away can go there and know what they are getting into? just a thoug

I don't think creating a forum just for spoilers is a good plan because we really don't want to create more forums. I think that the best and easiest solution is still that people put a warning on top of their posts.
