Most people here are post-Frodo fans, so it's only natural that we're interested in and wish to talk about the cast of that particular movie more than, say, that of Flipper.

Personally, I can't see anyone here wanting to have an in depth discussion about Paul Hogan.....!

I get what you guys are talking about (you guys as in Teeny and HerMagesty), but Flipper, the Faculty, and Deep Impact are poor examples of Elijah's pre-lotr work. As a younger child elijah was already showing signs of the acting ability seen in the trilogy, but his parts became repetitive and he needed something new. then the mid-90s came and Elijah kinda had to get swept up into the whole teen movie thing. This explains Flipper, the Faculty, and Deep Impact. All three were semi-mainstream and gave Elijah much needed exposure. Elijah wasn't even sure if he wanted to do Flipper cuz he didn't like the script. He only did it so he could swim with dolphins
Not that they aren't good movies, though. I love thye Faculty and have probably seen it about 30 times...

Yeah, I know what you mean, but none of them qualifies as a classic the way LOTR does -- you can't really even compare them.

There are threads to discuss all his projects, not just LOTR.  Despite however much we love certain older movies of his, they're never going to merit their own forums, really...

Even with the frenzy surrounding Try Seventeen/All I Want, there was never any mention of or need for a separate forum.  A thread was made to discuss it in Other Movies, and as you can see, it's died down and no one cares about it anything like as much as they used to.  But the LOTR forum is still quite active so... that just illustrates my point.

yeah, I have no problem with the Lotr sections. I'll admit, I first fell in like with elijah cuz of the fellowship of the ring. They're excellant, epic movies and I love them very much . In fact, I spend most of my lunch period and anime club time with my friend, Caitlin, just talking about the books and films. Sort of pathetic really, but that's beside the point .
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd like to see more elijah fans getting into his past movies. My quest to see all his movies has continued to be great fun, and I'd like to be able to talk to people about the movies

What Green is saying is exactly what I mean. It seems... well, kind of, ignorant to neglect them entirely. To say that LotR is an epic adventure that never ends, but Flipper does? At the end of Lotr... it ends. That's the end. At the end of flipper, it also ends. You can't say one goes on forever, and the other doesn't. And besides, Flipper has multiple movies, too.

It just doesn't seem fair to me to have all this stuff on LotR when, in some people's opinions, The Faculty and Try Seventeen are just as good, if not better.

And I know it's pointless to argue, and I was ready to leave this thread a while ago, but when people just kept posting, I hadta say *summin*...

Word.

Okay so...  Well...  I get what your saying and everything AngelFire, but the moderators and admin really see no point in expanding the forum either further to make a new section for each of Elijah's films.  He's been in, let me see, 20 movies (at a random guess) and to have a section for each of these and then a seperate section for a group of the actors in each that would be an extra 40 sections!

LOTRs is Elijahs main and most popular film.  It's 100x bigger then anything he's been in.  It's the film that made him as famous as he is.  Almost everyone knows "Frodo" where as barely anyone knows "Sandy".  There is just a whole lot more discussion and interest when it comes to the trilogy of LOTRs.

If you get what i'm saying.

Just "some", though, not the majority. Based on the popularity of the Flipper and Try Seventeen threads in the Other Movies section, those movies aren't as popular as LotR. (They aren't even on page 1; they reside on page 4 or 5, I believe)..and they don't have hugely successful books that go along with them, either. The LotR forum isn't just about the movies, but the novels as well. Don't forget that the filming of LotR was an epic journey for Lij himself (as corny as that may sound  ) and he's said that many times..That's where many of us discovered him as well, playing Frodo, so it's only reasonable we have forums dedicated to it. That and countless people requested the two forums ages ago.

Not having separate forums for each of Elijah's movies does not merit the criticism that they are "entirely neglected."  Other Movies is a catch-all forum for all of Elijah's movies, should fans take enough of an interest to create discussion threads.  Truth be told, those threads come about relatively rarely and never last long; the one that outlasted the others was for Try Seventeen/All I Want, and IMO, that was because of Lij's relationship with Franka and a few scandelous screencaps.  Ultimately, there wasn't enough substance in that film to fuel much discussion.  Elijah's character is from Texas, dislikes his mother, and is sexually inexperienced.  His acting talents aside, there wasn't any real soul in that movie.  There wasn't depth or anything to be discovered, really.

I think you will be hard-pressed to find more than a handful of people who agree with you on that point.

It's primarily just the thread about the other actors in LotR that bugs me, not that their aren't seperate sects for each of his movies.

If I may project my opinion: It seems like the bottom line here is if there's not a huge demand for a separate section for his other movies, why make one? It'll just be another chore for the mods, and it seems like no one besides AngelFire is that annoyed by the absence of a section like that to begin with. The LOTR section is there because lots of Elijah-lovers are also LOTR lovers, and some that are more into LOTR that Elijah to begin with. And it doesn't really end at the end of the movie -- there's a huge expanse of other stuff in the appendices and everything else, tons and tons of other volumes that have nothing to do with Frodo or any of the other characters in the movies.
And as to the other cast members, people would talk about them extensively even without a separate section -- it would clutter up the sections for LOTR and Other Movies if it wasn't organized like this. And let me reiterate, no one else really seems bothered by this. So, there's really no reason to make a new section.
