Quote from: maryd on June 03, 2010, 05:55:49 am Raquel - ooh, you can speak Italian? I did Italian classes for a year and I really loved it. Lots of Italian words actually sound similar to French words, because they come from the same root (Latin), so if you decided to learn French now it would be quite easy for you if you know Italian. I found Italian easy because I already spoke French, lol!
|
Yes, I heard they are smiliar. But I also speak Portuguese, so they can be quite similar like, for example when we say "molto, " lol. Is not the language itself I am frustrating on, its the teacher and the students in my class. The grade elevens act like kids when I'm in grade 10, lol. Plus, it can get sorta frustrating when you have to do like paragraphs....and we just learned the language. It's hard to know where to put your pronouns, how to conjugate certain verbs, where to put words(which are backwards when we say it in English ) Ya, stuff like that, haha.

You speak Italian ? =) You are brave if you learn french. This is a difficult language. I think english is cleary easier than the latins languages. All the irregulars verbs, the grammar joy's (specially the sentences construction), the very long list of the orthographes cases. And the sentences pronunciation ! (And I also do latin which is it's very helpful for the grammar. So, when I do a latin traduction, I think at all the foreign students who learn french because they're very brave ^^)

I don't really speak Italian, I just took the course to learn something new, since I love to learn new languages. But since school is done here, I can speak a bit of it. Simple sentence though - its a start Since I live in Canada, I have to take French and I was quite good at it. I was good at making sentence(at times) especially verbs. Just the pronunciation is hard at times since I am not really French also doing reading comprehension is very hard. If I have to take an elective for University, I am definitely taking French. I think its a beautiful language

Long time no see, Mary! Hard to believe you have finished your 1st yr at the uni. Wow...seems like you just started a couple days ago. Sounds like you enjoyed the experience and are doing well. Have you gone on your 2 wk vacation yet?
My family (bros, sis and nieces & nephews) just spent an extended weekend camping at the lake. Lots of fun! The kiddies had a ball swimming, tenting, water skiing, inner-tubing, etc. The weather was awesome...pretty warm 90F so lots of time in the water.
I have two new nephews since last posting: Andrew (May 19) and Joseph (July 10th). So the Culpie clan is growing. One more baby due this September. Funny how three of my in-laws were all due around the same season.
Liz, how are thing going? Looks like you are still enjoying NZ. Can't believe you have been there over a month now! Time really flies! How's the job search?
Shayda, are you online much? I still think of you often and hoping your are continuing to heal.
HOLY COW...did I see a post from Gem? Or was that on another thread? How are you doing?

Fabulous, Liz! Can't believe it has been 2 1/2 months already Is it really hard to get permanent work in NZ?
What is randstad education? I don't think I have ever heard of it before and now am curious.
The summer is going really well this year. Seems like getting off my lazy duff has been great for me. Lots of yardwork and home projects to be done before winter. Work has been going really well too. Time keeps speeding away. The Back-to-School sales have started out here and lots of people are talking about the end of summer. I am just not ready for it to end.
Anything new on the job front?

Good for you, Liz! Your job must be pretty interesting! I am anxiously awaiting to hear that you are ok. Things look pretty chaotic there at the moment. So hopefully you are safe!
Anyone hear from Shayda? I often wonder how she is doing.

Just saw this Julie as you know we are safe and well. Helping out in backpackers for accommodation in ChCh at the moment - if nothing turns up for work permits/residency we may go OZ for a year

Thank goodness for FB! As you can see I was cruising around hoping to catch you online, Liz. FB makes it a lot easier. How are things going in OZ? Have you hooked up with anyone from AF yet like Frodo's Mum? That would be pretty fun!
Toodles for now!
