Breast Check Up

So I was wondering where to put this thread, but I didn't think it was too explicit to put in the Adult forum. And also, I think this is an important subject to talk about.
I was watching tv the other night and it was about checking your breasts for lumps and everything. I tuned in too late, so they probably already explained when, how, how often etc. But they did show how to move your hands and all. It was actually very helpful. But I really wonder; when is the age you have to start examining your own breasts? And how often do you do it? And when is the best time? I hear people say during your period, others say anytime BUT during your period. Others say when you're in the shower and some people say never do it in the shower. So yeah... Do you know about this?
Also: Do you check your breasts regularly? Just curious.

what a good topic Pam, I do check my breasts regularly for sure, not sure on the age to start tho - I guess when you hit puberty?

I check mine in the shower. I think it's important to do it as soon as breasts actually develop, because cancer can hit at any age. I've heard that it's best to check them when you are standing/sitting upright as opposed to lying down, and I just find it easy to do it in the shower.
I agree with you Pamela about putting this in the Misc section, by the way, because it's not really explicit.

You are pretty right, maryd. Best way: standing or sitting, you check your right breast with your left hand while your right hand is over your head, and then you change. It?s also important to check your armpits too.
The best moment to do it is just right after your period is finished.
