I agree - it's very sad. But also, not really, because he's going to be with his Creator. When I heard the news about this yesterday, a post either here or on another board, I thought it was a joke - it was April Fool's Day, remember. Now I feel bad just for thinking that.

Yes. It's very sad to see someone like the Pope go, because you think he's the Pope and he's going to be around for a while. Rest in Peace, Pope.

I'm not Catholic, so I don't "follow" the Pope, but I believe he is still a man to be respected and honored. I do not know his life story or anything, but it is always sad to see people like him go. I know he will be missed, but we all have our time. Today was his...

I know, some people are being so disrespectful on other forums, I mean i know i havent exactly been the nicest person to Catholics because some of our beliefs etc clash, but he was a truely good man and i dont deny that....

| Exactly. I'm not a religious person myself, but he was a respectful man, with lots of qualities, and it's a sad thing what happened today, though he was suffering a lot.... R.I.P.

I think that his death is sad but it was his time and is better off in heaven now. He is a respected man who will be missed.

That is one thing I appreciate about this forum. Even if we disagree with each other, most of the members are respectful. It would really bother me if people were being disrepectful to the Pope or to Catholics, especially on the day of the Pope's death! I am glad that the people on this forum are not as insensitive as that!

I'd like to thank you for this thread. I thought to open one myself and then I found myself fixed to the TV screen, hearing the latest news about POPE JOHANNES PAUL II death. I knew he was very sick but it was a real shock to hear that he finally has died. I am Catholic and he was the leader of my church. It's like my father had died and I think many people in the world will feel the same. He was an honorable man who always tried the best to make the world a better place. He has gone home to our father in heaven. My heart and soul is crying and praying for him. All my thoughts are with him and I know he is at a better place now.
Johannes Paul rest in peace.

I just heard about this. It's so sad, he was a great and respectable man. I hope that he may rest in peace and be with the Lord.

RIP Pope John Paul II.
I am very sad to see such a good, kind person pass away, yet at the same time, I am glad to see his sufferings have ended. He's been sick for quite awhile, and I'm happy that he is done suffering and that he is on his way to see God in heaven.
His soul will be in my prayers, along with the Cardinals that now have to decide on a new Pope. I hear that this might be the first time an African (African-American? I don't know exactly) Pope will be elected.
