Yes....I just received the alert from Variety.  I think Rachel Weisz is an excellent choice.  I hope they'll announce who plays Susie soon.

Ryan Gosling is set to star opposite Rachel Weisz in Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones for DreamWorks, reports Variety.

Still very interested to see who will play Susie...

Still very interested to see who will play Susie... 

I am, too.  I'll bet Peter is looking for a very talented newcomer for the part.  He discovered Kate Winslet and cast her in her first film:  Heavenly Creatures.  Maybe he'll launch another future star.

I read that Saoirse Ronan is playing Susie. She's an Irish actress (woo), stars in Atonement which is out next month I think.

The bottom photo is a movie still from Atonement (which was an excellent book.)  Her first name is pronounced SEER-shuh.  That's going to be tricky to remember.

our guide on hobbiton tour was telling us all about this film so we wanna see it now also the book is supposed to be the best, anyone here read it..

Hey there!  Catching up on this thread.  I've just finished reading the book and thought it was very good.  I tried to read it a while back, but had a tough time with the subject matter.  I decided to pick it up again and I'm glad I did.  It was very good.

I'm pretty surprised at the casting of Ryan Gosling.  It seems he's too young to play the father, no?  Rachel Weiz is a good choice for the mom.  I'm excited to see who will play Lindsay Salmon.  The girl you picture here, Yeux, seems like she would make a good Susie.  Can't wait to see who's in the rest of the cast.

Finished the book a while ago, and now I'm looking forward to the film, just to see how different it will be or whether it will be very similar to the book.

Not sure about Rachel Weisz....but I like the look of Saoirse Ronan.  And what a lovely name (Saoirse is Irish for Sarah).

I just read a couple of days ago that Mark Wahlberg is replacing Ryan Gosling as Susie's father in the film.  The article didn't say why, but I wondered if PJ decided Ryan looked too young.  I've read many comments by people who thought he looked too young.

It made me think of PJ replacing Stuart Townsend with Viggo Mortensen because he decided Stuart looked to young to play Aragorn.
