Interesting news Rach - and well done to JK, of course, for being nominated third place Person of the Year! Do you mean what would she write an eighth novel about?

She said that it would probably follow different characters, that she felt Harry's story had been told.
Perhaps she could pick up with the trio's children? Just pecualtion, of course, but it's certainly set up for that.
Hugs, Rach

Oh yeah, a novel about the children would be so cool! Does anyone know when the next movie is coming out? I really want to go to the premiere in London!

The next movie is tentatively scheduled for release in November next year Kathi!
A series about the children might be interesting, but I'm not sure JK could work in a good plot, now that Voldemort's gone and all.

Yeah it's true, a novel about the children probably wouldn't work out that well It's just so sad that it all ended. I'm trying to persuade my brother into reading the books, but he doesn't want to....maybe he's too young.

Hmmm, I really don't know what to think about this. I'd love to see another Harry book but since Rowling made it clear that Harry's story is told, it won't be another Harry book. Also, Voldemort has been killed. She could of course always make up another bad guy but it won't be the same.
I'd much prefer her to write a totally new story with different characters than another Harry book.

Since i loooooooooove all the harry potter books so much i think i wouldn't rread it because i'm afraid to destroy the image of him that I have in my head .... that's also why i still can't think of dumbledore as gay ... because that doesn't fit HIS image and i'll keep mine ...you know what i mean?? i really want harry to stay in my head the way he is ..and as JO and you said harrys story is told and i really don't want to read one about someone else just because jo (who IS of course a good writer) wrote it ... my opinion

No matter what JKR writes, it will always be compared to the HP series, so she may as well write "Hogwarts: The Next Generation."
Maybe the Malfoys could be the new villains, or another Death Eater. Or maybe somehow Voldemort managed to have a child? Or the part of Voldemort that was inside Harry somehow survived to be passed on to one of his children?
I could easily see how it could work.
That said, I'm off to replay my "Sorcerer's Stone" game.

Nooo! I really hope she doesn't. I think Harry Potter has given all it can. Any more would just be too much. I've read books before that have moved onto following other characters, and they become very samey and uninteresting after a time.
I personally think it was too much to add that they all married each other and had kids. I think it would have been far better if they had just left it at 'yay we won', rather than adding 'some years later' on the end. So to carry on another series... no thanks. I won't read it.

I'd kinda like a "prequel." A story about Harry's parents when they first came to Hogwarts, and how they ended up getting married despite the fact that Lily seemed to hate James while they were in school ("Snape's Worst Memory," OotP).

I heard somewhere that George married Angelina Johnson, and carried on running Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. I still am not convinced about the need for an 8th book or even a prequel, I just don't think there would be enough drama.
