DVD Audio Commentaries

Hello!  I was a fan of Elijah Wood throughout the 90s (and I still am--I've just gotten a bit behind!), so most of my collection consists old VHS tapes.  Many of his films are now on DVD.  Can anyone give me a comprehensive list of Elijah Wood movies on DVD where he participates in an audio commentary?  (except the LOTR movies, which I already know about and own.)  Consider it an entertaining challenge, if it helps.  I will be most grateful!

interesting inquiry. i love commentaries on DVDs.

outside of the LOTR DVDs i don't think elijah has done any commentaries. he just completed working on a commentary track, but that was for the tv program robot chicken.

however, if you're craving for some inside info on his films, there are a few DVD with extras where elijah talks about his experience on making the films. here's the list starting with the most recent:

the romantics
9
the oxford murders
happy feet
bobby
paris je taime
sin city
green street hooligans
eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
the ice storm

i believe that's all of them.

you may have to check special editions of those films to find which have the extras. there are also some DVDs that have commentaries from the film makers where they speak about working with elijah. the adventures of huck finn is one that's really good. deep impact is another.

there's also a documentary called operation filmmaker that goes behind the scenes of everything is illuminated to follow an intern working on the movie. elijah's not in it much, but it's still a good documentary.

i wish EII had some kind of commentary or extras. it's my favorite adult elijah film.

That is an interesting inquiry--I have some of those films and never thought about the extras. Too bad The Faculty doesn't have any. I don't know whether LOTR made the commentaries more popular or if folks always did them and I just didn't notice.  I have some old movies and the commentaries aren't even related to the particular movie.

Off topic if you have All About Eve a film critic (can't think of his name) gives excellent insight to the movie and the actors.

Thank you, Deenan!  Naturally I was hoping for more commentaries, but this information saves me so much time.  Now I won't go renting a bunch of DVDs.  I do own Huck Finn on DVD, and you're right, the director and editor talk a lot about working with Elijah Wood.

Just as an aside, I'm not sure I could watch Deep Impact again.  For some reason it depressed me more than any other Elijah Wood movie, even more than The Ice Storm.

Romeny, an audio commentary for The Faculty would be awesome!

Some audio commentaries are sooo boring and badly done, but the good ones can be more entertaining than the movies themselves.
