im working on a book at the moment and i was wondering if anyone else was or was thinking about it
or if you just like short/long stories?!
so -does anyone have problems when it comes to writing your book? -have any ideas and dont know how to get them down -ever had success with a book or poem etc and got it published -know any handy sites/books that can help someone wanting to write a story? -or have anything at all to say about writing your own work
:)

Please do not write all in caps. This equals yelling and is not considered very polite. Thank you!

I have been working on my book for 3 years now. I have it wrote and id it in 1 and a half years. I am just typing it into the computer now and making some changes as I go. I hand wrote it in 3, 3 subject spiral notebooks on every page front and back.
I always wanted to write a book and had alot of things I wanted to write about but never knew how to get started and do it. Till one day I was going down the road with my family and we were talking about Rowlings and HP. I mentioned what I just said above and they told me I could do it and to just start. I thought if Rowlings could do it since she had never wrote before and she was/is as old as I am then I can do it. So the next day my hubby bought me my 1st spiral 3 subject notebook. I took it and on the first day I wrote about 20 pages or so nonstop.
There were some days I didn't write or I didn't know what to write so I got advice from my family and my kids helped a bunch. Now it's 3 years (in May) later and just finishing typing in the second notebook. I am so anxious to get it finished. It is like a baby to me and I raised it. I feel like I know the characters and they are real. The places in my book I feel like I have traveled there.
Once I get it typed my hubby is going to read it and let me know what kind of changes that needs to be done. When we get that done I am going to take a copy of it to the post office and certify it to myself in the mail. I wont open it and put it in a saftey deposit box for safe keeping in case later if aomeone came and said I stole their book or ideas I can take my unopened copy from the bank to a judge and prove it is mine and not theirs. That is one way of copywriting your work. I have done this to some of my poems and I wont reveal which one or ones.
So Potatoes you can do and be anything you want to do or be. Just make sure when you write a book just be very careful so no one will steal your work. You must choose wisely whom you want to entrust your work with. I know from experience that it is so exciting about sharing your work with others but you have to bite the bullet and keep it hush hush. The time will come when all will see and you can sit back and enjoy the rewards.
Good luck my friend.

I think it was you that posted the first part of your novel. Now it's gone. I hope you didn't get mad at me for deleting it on what I had said. If I upset you I am sorry my friend.

Oh I am so glad you aren't mad. I do however still get a bit leery about posting my poems. Thinking they will get stolen but like I said before I have copywritten one, some, or all and not teliing what it is and which one they are. That way I am covered on that part.
Just keep on with your work and it will pay off.

Well, my sister wants to write a book and I guess she already knows most of the story. So far, she has wrote about four chapters. She writes it in English, so it's a bit difficult, but it was her decision after all
I think if you want to show some short-stories to other people you could go to http://www.fanfiction.net. My sister showed some of her stories there, too :] I guess it's good for "exercising"

You can do and be anything you want to do or be. All you have to do is put your mind to it. Only you can make the first step no matter what others say.
As for posting my work I don't and I think I explained it before. But anyone is welcome to read my poems in the poetry section "Scroll's Poetry Snippets".

I've been working on this children's book this year. Had to put it down , I"m illustrating it and writing it so this will be a long term project. It is fun when I get finally into the studio and close the door and have hours of uninterrupted solitude so I can really concentrate....... (wow ..... I will finish some day)

I just finished typing in the second 3 subject spiral notebook of my book. I about cried cause it was so overwhelming. I remembered when I started typing in my book and thought back then it will take me forever. But when I finished the first notebook and started the second I thought well I am about halfway through. Now I'm on the thrid notebook and it is very thrilling. Thinking I am that I am that much closer now of being done with my book and getting it sent off to be published.

That's so awesome! I've always thought that doing an illustrated kids book is something I would love to do, but sadly I don't have the illustrative talent.
At the moment I'm working on two major projects - the first is a purely fictional novel-length piece, which is so far only about a quarter written but that quarter has already gone through one major edit/re-write. The second piece is somewhat autobiographical, but not in a strict sense... I guess "based on a true story" is the best way to explain it... it's basically describing the events in my life that led to my PTSD, and while it will be factual in nature I didn't want to be restricted to only facts. Saying that, I don't think anything in there will actually be innacurate, I just think you are allowed more artistic license if you say "this is fictional" as opposed to saying "this is autobiographical". I possibly won't offer this piece for general publication anyway - the main purpose of writing it is just so that my best friends have some sort of reference, an explanation of why I have this disorder, a way of thanking them for their support throughout and hopefully putting it into perspective a bit.

I'm currently writing a book that, when finished, I plan to donate 100% of my profits to various humanitarian organizations around the world specifically RED and UNHCR because I am an active member in those two organizations. I wrote my first book when I was 13 and it was about a girl who is the daughter of a Jew struggling through World War Two. I started a book after that and it was a sort of a fantasy time story and it's got everything. In it, there are vampires, faeries (the evil ones), dragons and the whole bit. I wrote a series of short stories after that about this team of investigators who's specialty is cold cases and that ones set in 1920's London. My most recent project was "My Africa" and that's the charity book. I'm really hoping to finish it in time for my 17'th birthday.
