"Always Stay Logged In" never works

This problem had been around as long as I've been in A&F, but I'll tell about it now anyway.

When I log in and check the "Always Stay Logged In" it stays logged in the default time that has been written on "Session length" but after that it logs out. I kind of wish that I would be logged in all the time until log out by myself or remove the cookies, since next to checkbox it says "always".

I have tried to chance the session length but it has no effect. The session does'nt become any longer by doing that, it always logs out after the default session length has expired.

So here... thank you for your answer.

Yes the same for me. It's quite annoying actually that you always have to type your username and password again.

I've set my computer to remember my passwords, so all I have to do is click the username box and pick my username.
Maybe you should do that if it's really that annoying for you...

Interesting.  I didn't know you could set a computer to do that.  I was told the reason "Always Stay Logged On" doesn't work here is because the website doesn't deposit a cookie when you log on.  Therefor, it doesn't "remember" you.  All the other sites I visit have cookies.  This is the only site where I have to repeatedly sign in.

i use two browsers. IE and firefox. IE doesn't keep my log in info, but firefox does. all i have to do is click myself in.

i've never been bothered with typing in my info to log onto the forum. in fact, for a long time, i never knew you could stay logged in.

Okay... now I start to understand why people appreciate Firefox.

Okay... now I start to understand why people appreciate Firefox.
I've heard good things about Firefox.  I have AOL and it has its own browser.  I also have IE which comes installed on nearly every PC.  I've been reluctant to try Firefox - or any other browser - because I have dial up.  AOL is my ISP and when I use IE instead of the AOL browser, the system crawls.  I suspect it would be the same if I tried to use Firefox.

When I log on here, I change the session length to 9999.  That's good for a couple of days.  I don't really mind that I have to log in.  I already have a zillion cookies on my computer because I click on "stay logged in" at nearly every site I visit.  This is the only site where I have to continually log in.

Hmmmm...this is very interesting. When I check the "always logged in" box...it seems to work. Now I wonder if I just don't exceed the session time. Does anyone know what the session length is?

The default session length is 240 minutes.  When I log in, I change it to 9999 -- the longest you can fit in the box.

The "always stay logged in" box doesn't work because this site doesn't deposit a "cookie" on your computer when you log in here.  That's why a few days later, you have to sign in again.

I feel better if I have to log in every time. Don't know why but I feel as though someone could get my password if I'm logged in all the time, lol.

Ahhhhhhh....that makes sense! I guess I am never logged in for longer than 240 minutes at a time.  Thanks for the enlightenment, Yeux!

Same here, lol! Though I guess if you have a long username it would make sense to not have to type it in everytime you want on.

This happens to me too, but I'm not sure why. I use firefox and it used to keep my logged in, but when my family switched our internet over...now I can't stay logged in on anything I'll try to mess with my cookies or something

It has never worked because this website doesn't deposit a "cookie" on your computer so the site will recognize you the next time you come here.

As for having the problem at other sites where you want to stay logged on, you need to be sure you have the "enable cookies" setting checked.  You probably lost that setting when your family changed ISPs.
