Continuation of "The 'Old' Elijah Fans Thread - Part 2," which has been locked because it's over 100 pages long.

As I was locking threads and making new ones, I kept checking to see if Elijah had fallen to page 2. If he had, I was going to send a PM asking one of you to rescue him. ;)

I think the girls who post on a lot of the other threads in this section are going to be a bit confused at first.

Ditto! There are a lot of changes in the forum to get used to but it is looking good. (scurrying over to look for Sean stuff) ;)

Yes, quite a few new things to get used to. I see a problem already with starting new threads after only 100 pages. There is a Ewan McGregor thread in this section and I just noticed the new thread is already up to five pages in less than 24 hours! :o We'd have to start a new thread every couple of weeks at that rate, so I think some threads will almost have to be allowed to get longer. Actually, I think 200 would be a better cutoff point.

Culpie -- If you see this, I noticed in another thread that you said you have an LJ. I don't think I've friended you there. Is your LJ name also Culpie? Mine is yeuxdebleu....same as here except without the spaces.

Cool, a new 'old' thead! Hi everyone. I'm feeling guilty about how little time I spend here :-[ I think that will change now that my RL has calmed down a bit. I'm enjoying my new house. I miss my old house like crazy, but it was also a burden in many ways. I can stand a little less drama in my life ::)

The site is looking great! Deenan and Cristiel are doing a fabulous job. :)

this may be a record for me. posting twice in less than a week. ;D

Deenan - I assume Nuke meant the news page when she specified you and Cristiel. But, I do appreciate all the work all the mods are doing on the forum too. I think the changes have been really good ones. :D

Maybe not the new thread every 100 pages, if that's too much work for all of you, but the reorganization of threads is looking really good. :)

We had a really lovely day, so we all rode bikes to a park (about 30 minutes each way) and the kids played a bit. Very nice. I also got some other stuff done like mowing the lawn (ugh! hubby hasn't done it since he broke his leg and I dread it!!! :( ), vacuuming and folding and putting away clean towels. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice too, but we have a lot of errands to run, so it will be busy.

Glad you approve. We're freeing up quite a bit of space, too, so that should make the server run faster. At least that's what we've been told.

Thanks. We've merged quite a few threads that were about the same subject and deleted some very old ones that had zero or very few comments. I've been very surprised at the number of threads that were started and never received any comments.

Yes the forum is easier to follow and things look neat--I can see that the 100 pp rule for the fast moving threads might be tough to keep up with. I was surprised to see any postings here at all as I hadn't been notified but I realized I'd forgotten to check off the notifation box in this new thread & in a couple of others.

Nuke: glad to hear things are settling in you new home. No way though you can be completely unpacked yet, right? Did you have to leave a lot of things in storage?

Celebrian: you guys (you and hubby) have to be in shape to ride bikes 30 minutes each way; I think children are naturally fit from playing all day anyway but its different for adults. I learned the hard way that you can't just jump on a bike if you're not used to it. There is a recreational area (man-made lake) about 1/2 mi from my house that I usually walk to and around it (1.4 mi) and back home which is slightly uphill. I rode my bike that same distance, but went around the lake twice and then was too tired to make it back home. I ended up leaving the bike by the side of the road and walking home & leaving hubby to retrieve the bike. I was surprised because I thought I was in better shape than that.

Hope everyone has a good week.

We were in the middle of page 2! :o

Romeny - Well, it's pretty flat here and the 30 minutes included stops for street crossings and such with the kids. And, not at high speeds, so not as far as you might think. Sorry you had trouble with that hill, but we have very few hills around here. ;D

This is a busy week with school and activities starting up again and hubby at a conference until Friday night. But, so far we're hanging in there. ;) Despite temps of 96 today. :o Tomorrow is supposed to be much cooler thank goodness.

Now don't get excited you guys but I am kinda here.I saw part of an elijah movie tonight and thought about you guys.i also work part time(as a sub) in an elementary school and everyday at work I see this little first grader who is the splitting image of elijah.his hair is a different color and he doesn't have the blue eyes but he has everything else.Except though he has this cute little mole on his cheek.

Both my kids are in school now but only the youngest is in school part time so i can only take the 2 hr noon duty at the school.it's hard work for little pay.it's so hard no one wants to stay at this school for very long doing it.i have gotten used to the kids and they know me now.I hate to leave but I am just a sub.

anyways,i hope you guys are doing good.I just haven't gotten around to checking out anything Elijah has been up to recently.Oh i do have a funny story about him though. One day the kids were watching some kid's program and they ran down and said "mommy, elijah is dancing on tv!" and i didn't believe them.So they changed the channel and sure enough there he was dancing and singing on some kids program but I can't remember the name of it.it has some freaky robot things on it and they teach kids how to brush their teeth and eat good foods and stuff.

gotta go,it's already after 1 am and I have one more day of work at the school until the weekend.Hubby has been out of town all week but he comes back tomorrow.Things were going so great, damn! ;)

see ya!

I know I'm dumb but is E up to anything right now?I'm so lazy I can't read backwards. Not as if I can go to any hollywood openings or anything these days.Would love to meet him in the flesh again but it may be awhile.

Hi everyone! So good to see you back elflvr!

Just stopping by to say hi, and to get this thread off of page 2.

I'm just doing the usual stuff- working, cleaning and cooking, driving kids places. I have gotten interested in a few TV shows, and have been watching them instead of going online some nights.
Elflvr-As far as I can tell, Elijah's not doing anything right now. At least not anything that we can see. I hope that soon we'll have some information or pictures or something.

Hi Kathleen what TV shows you watching may I ask?
Elijah will be probably filming something or getting ready for release of a new film, taking a break. I wonder if he'l be on Graham Norton this series as the past couple of series he has been on every one. ;D

How are you? ::)

Hi Elizabeth! (my sister is named Elizabeth!)
My husband had gotten me interested in Dexter. It's a creepy show, but I've got to see what happens next. And I've been watching Heroes and CSI quite a bit. For several years, I just didn't watch any TV, but I like some of these new shows.

I wonder if Elijah is working on that Iggy Pop film. I sure hope so. I'm sure he's got something in the works.

I am just plugging away. I have two teenage boys, and they are keeping me busy!

:)

Hellooooo...Everyone, how's everyone doing?

The temperature here has been weird, too warm, getting close to 80 each day and this is October. :o Finally last night some rain though and the temperatures are supposedto get back to the 50's by the weekend.

I see there was some discussion about TV shows; I don't watch a lot of TV but one show I've become addicted to this yr is the Biggest Loser. I never watched it before and find it fascinating.

Well, I'm at work and about to "go on" so bye for now.

Thanksgiving went fine, probably because I was at my MIL's who means well but isn't the greatest cook so I didn't over eat. Now my brother is a great baker and made me Pecan Cheesecake and it was to die for! ;) I ate one piece, froze it so I wouldn't be tempted and brought it into work Monday...whew that was a close call as I really wanted to eat it all. The only thing I missed was the sweet potato pie.

Post by: chuckie3d on November 29, 2007, 07:09:39 am

I don't have a recipe for the cheesecake but here's the link to one. My brother's crust was homemade with brown sugar and ground up pecans added to the grahm crackers.
http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/1391/Butter-Pecan-Cheesecake93424.shtml

My own sweet potato pie recipe is hard to follow because I made a lot of modifications to it so don't really follow the actual recipe that much. :P I bake it longer at a lower temperature than is called for. With mine, I add more brown sugar and less eggs.( my recipe calls for 5). Here is a link to one that looks similar.

Hi everybody!

I'm quite shocked at the lack of activity here. Unless you are all meeting in another thread that I don't know about, I'll just guess that everyone is very busy with the new year. Oh yeah.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I am almost perpetually locked out of the comments box, and I know not what to do about it. I have begged Lucy, Deenan, and Brenda to help me. I believe they have tried to, but were unsuccessful. So, does anyone have a suggested next step that I could take?

Anyway, because I am locked out of the comments box, I must reply to it here:

Thank you baggens, Ed P. Celebrian, pop, and carol-m, for wishing me a belated Happy Birthday. Bless you all.

So, if you guys are meeting in some other thread, please let me know where via email. Thanks in advance!

Hugs and Kisses!

don't you just love the sound of crickets? LOL! ;D

it sure has been quiet on this thread. certainly not like before, but it's still good to know we're keeping up with each other in some form or another.

i'm just tickled pink that elijah will finally start filming the passenger. what a long wait that was huh?

so, i'll see how long this will go before another "older regular" posts. goodness knows, i haven't been doing it. :P

I think LJ may have been the nail in the coffin of this column, people just get out of the habit of checking in here because they can do it elsewhere. Sigh...Oh Well. :(

Gee, SweetestHeart...can't believe you are locked out of the A&F boxie! I don't post much there, but generally lurk from time to time. It is fun to see what everyone is doing. Your post were always so nice...how strange! I sure hope it gets resolved soon so you can freely post in the boxie too. ;)

Hello! Anyone home? I thought I'd stop by to say hi to my 'old' friends. Haven't been around much lately. I had a horrible flu for about a week. It's been running rampant here on Long Island. I've just had some old Elijah movies to comfort me 8)

While I'm here I'd like to say a very Happy Birthday to Brenda. Hope it was a lovely day :-*

The site is looking quite nice these days. Our ladies are doing a wonderful job. Hope you all are staying warm and staying well. :) Kisses and hugs to all.

I think you're right. Everyone who used to post here has an LJ....well, almost everyone. I can think of only two people who post here (and that's only occasionally) who don't have an LJ.

Sorry to read that you've been sick, Nuke. I hope your daughter doesn't get it, too. There are a lot of people around here with colds, but there hasn't been much flu this winter. *fingers crossed*

Hi Nuke33 - I have seen your posts from time to time, but haven't officially "met" you. :) Sorry to hear you had the flu. :( It has been going around here in Montana too. So far I have stayed healthy. *Culpie knocks on wood* My little neices and nephews haven't been so lucky. Poor widdle kiddies. :'(

I am glad folks are posting here again too. If I am remembering correctly, most of you were my first A&F contacts. :) You are all so nice and friendly. :-*

When I discovered LJ, it was such fun to find that most A&F-ers had LJ's too. :D However, I can't help but swing back in here from time to time to keep up on all the news. It is such a fun site with lots of topics.

It will indeed be fun to watch what Elijah get's involved with next. The whole Oxford Murders process has been such an education for me. It is the first time that I experienced the waiting involved for the film to be announced, filmed and released. Wow! Seems like we have been waiting forever for it to come out. 8)

Toodles for now. (Yikes! I am so dang wordy)

I haven't been here for a while, but I just saw that there were new posts today. :D Hi everyone! *waves* It's kind of sad that this thread is so quiet now after that period when so many of us met and got to know one another here. I'm glad to see a little life in the old thread. ;D

My son woke up sick this morning, but after a nap he got up seeming much better this evening. Hopefully it's over now, but we'll see if the fever comes back or anything.

I know....but I'm never sure who will see posts here. At LJ, I know the person I want to see something will see it. Also, I email back and forth with some of you so often that it feels redundant to say the same things here.

I mentioned to Deenan something about A & F that I found humorous. When you're writing a comment here, at the top of the write box there is a drop down menu if you want to use a message icon. I spend so much time at LJ that many times when I'm here, I click on that thinking I'll see my list of user pic icons. :D

He he, that's funny. I can see how easy that would be. You're right Culpie this is where I first got to know everyone, especially since I lurked for a while before joining and posting. But it was really the warmth and camaraderie between the posters that made me want to join. 8)

"Old" is a tongue in cheek reference to the members who on average are a bit "older" than most EW fans. ;) We range from 25 and up. ;D

That's a shame that the thread isn't active anymore. :(

I'll try my best to get it up and running again, but you other older girls have to help me. ;)

Well, I may be mature in years, but thankfully I'm still immature at heart! I know this because this past weekend my big bro and his two boys flew up to stay with us for a few days and we just had the best cracking-up-doing-stupid-stuff time I've had in ages!!! ;D

Not only did we all go to numerous parks/kid's play centres during the day, but we probably drank more than was really good for us while dancing like 'techno divas' to crappy 80's pop and 90's house music!! ::) :-[ ;D :D

'Twas fun, but the kiddies (who naturally are already mortified by anything we parents do) obviously thought we had hit a new level of embarrassing parental behaviour! tehe! Mission accomplished I suppose - sometimes it's good to get one's own back on the younger generation! ;)

Maybe we'll get a New, Old group. Not too long ago my brother was with us (hubby & all three boys) and my brother and I did this rap song our way and threatened to audition on American Idol with it. It was a lot of fun with them making fun of us but we all enjoyed it and the boys told all their friends about it. :D

Hey, Culpie, Romeny, Deenan, Celebrian, Elizabeth - and any other old chicks who pop in here from time to time! ;D

It's well and truly winter in Oz now, but I LOVE it!

Have sent my wayward 13 year old son off to Brisbane for an Indoor Cricket competition, and my hubby has been working away in Canberra the last three weeks or so... so my household has been "male-less" for a little while.

My daughter Charlotte (11) participated in the regional sports comp last week too and she came 2nd in the 800 metres! I love watching my kids perform... must be becoming a stage mother! :P ;)

I've been rushed off my feet with work, house kids this week, so have been on 'here' less than usual. But lucky for you all, I always return! lol! :D

Where do you live Gemstar? It's winter where you are but it's hot, humid summer here so I'd like to trade places. 800 Metres is that swimming or running but anyway congrats to Charlotte. My kids always swam...there's no cricket here but my youngest played lacrosse for a bit. It's exhausting work being a stage mom...but as long as the pushing is coming from the kids, that's alright. I think our role is to offer encouragement. 8)

Yes Romeny, Elizabeth is right, I am from Queensland, Australia... so we get hot, humid weather the majority of the year - winter is always a welcome change! :)

Charlotte's race was in an athletics carnival, but she also swims quite well... you kind of have to be able to swim living where we do! Besides, it's always a good skill to have.

I do try not to push the kids... I believe it has to be their choice to participate in any extra curricular activity - except a vital life-skill such as swimming, as I just discussed, I DID rather force the issue on that one lol! ::) ;D

Jay comes home on the bus at midnight tonight! Rory and I will fight over who has to go pick him up! :P ;) Charlotte is sleeping over a friend's house, but after that, no more peace, as the kids are on school holidays for two weeks (they get their long break in Dec/Jan - our Aussie Summer).

Just caught up on everyone's posts. Wow Gem! Your daughter did really well. It is so funny to think of you in winter and Romeny and I in summer now. It certainly has begun for us...it was 110F today and we are expecting scattered thunderstorms the chance increases tomorrow with some of the storms becoming severe. Thank goodness my company pays for their employees to park in our little ole local parking garage. You can bet I will be firmly established on the 2nd floor away from the windows!

Bad news on the home front...mum and I think the septic field has a problem. :o It is a tad bit squishy and we think we can smell something yucky. :-X Keep your fingers crossed that the repair won't be major. It can sometimes cost as much at 10K. Yikes!

Liz, sounds like you are settling in...I will keep my fingers crossed that you find a job really quickly. Now i think I better go check out your website to catch up on your other news. ;D

Whelp....gotta dash! I will check in with ya'll later! Toodlie pip! :-*

I haven't been on here quite as much as usual, but I'd still love to hear about what you other girls are up to!

Elizabeth, did you and Mark have any luck on the job front yet? I hope you're still enjoying NZ! :)

Things here have been really slow haven't they. ::)

I am in the market for a new TV for my room since my old one died on me recently. I won't complain because it reminded me that growing up we only had one TV in the family room that got 4 stations and we felt lucky to have that. AND we only had one phone in the kitchen and the cord was 6' long. Later on an extension was put into my parents room.

Yeah Culpie what's going on with the plumbing?

Gem, I had the choice last week of seeing the Narnia sequel with my son at the cheap seats theater $4/ticket or Speed Racer & he selected SR which I loved btw. I remember the original when my oldest watched it religiously.

Romeny... My hubby Rory loves Speed Racer, original version ;D He told me he was sorely tempted to buy a dvd of the old show when he was shopping the other day, but didn't for some reason.

He he he...I will buy the old TV show & will look for it tomorrow at BJ's. It wasn't on my radar before so they may already have it available. I'll pretend I'm buying it for my son, just kidding my family knows mom goes off the deep end from time to time. :D

Romeny... Hi again! Yeah, you should definitely buy it! I bought The Never-Ending Story the other day - more for myself than the kids, lol! ;)

And when I was growing up, we only had a B&W TV that Dad bought when I was 7 years old... before that we had no television! And we got a phone around the same time. It's not that there wasn't such things available where we lived, but my parents were, and still are a bit technologically-phobic! ;D ::)

Hmmm, I've been lurking around A&F and was wondering if the 'old' thread was still alive and well :) Nice to see everyone here. Hello to all the new ones I haven't met yet. I'm one of the 'old timers' from the old thread. Hi also to my ladies, you know who you are ;)

I'm gonna go check out the rest of the site. Our mods are doing a fabulous job as usual. I'll try to check back in later and let everyone know what I've been up to.

Chow for now!

Hi Nuke! I remember seeing you post alot when I was only lurking on A&F. ;D

Yes, Gem & Romeny, we did finally get our septic issue taken care of. The man came yesterday and worked on it. He discovered the the pipe leading from the house to the tank was completely broken. :o However, he was able to fix it for about $50. He was a VERY nice honest man. So my "freaking out" about potential $10,000 new septic system was unwarranted. Whew! :P

Gem, what did you think about Prince Caspian? I enjoyed it, but was a bit disappointed that they didn't stick to the book more.

Hi Deenan! Added ya to my little ole flist! nice to have you on it. I haven't gotten a chance to check my LJ yet...but I will hopefully this evening.

Toodles!

Helloooo...how's everyone on this Friday, ready for the weekend?

Miss Sixty, hope things are looking up on the job front.

Celebrian your comment about losing your post reminded me on the old days on this thread when that seemed to happen to people a lot.

Culpie, it's good to see you here from time to time, how was your birthday?

We had some excitement here yesteday as my son was in a minor car accident; no one was hurt but the car has to be totalled. ::) It was 22 yrs old and the book value less than $500.00 and to repair it would cost thousands so they consider that totalled. Sigh...Oh well the important thing was no one was injured.

Waves back to Gem and anyone else I missed. ;)

Post by: Lanta the Gemstar on July 25, 2008, 08:43:52 am

Culpie... sorry didn't see your question re: Prince Caspian from over the last page till now!

We enjoyed it very much, but admittedly I hadn't read any of the books except for The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and it's Prequel story... :-[ Lots of LOTR similarities with the imagery and perhaps it's just me but Caspian's accent reminded me of Puss-in-Boots from Shrek, LOL! ;D ::)

I also have to recommend The Dark Knight (latest Batman movie) to y'all... Heath Ledger was chillingly excellent in his interpretation of The Joker imho, and the rest of the cast were wonderful too. The plot is slightly confusing tho, and it's definitely NOT one for the kiddies, :P :o but all in all I thought it was impressive.

Well it's after 10:30 pm Friday night here, the kids a still up and my man just called to say he's almost home after a five hour drive from where he was working today! Yep; this is my life ladies... ::) Bye for now! ;D

Hi ladies. Hopefully, this post will be successful. ;)

Carina - Long time, no see. Nice to see you pop in. :D

Thanks Gem. :-) I tend to compose limericks during treadmill time (or getting ready to get on the treadmill) so it's often when the kids are still asleep.

Romeny - I hope that this isn't the start of another period of many lost posts. I don't think it will be. I intend to copy this before I post just in case, though.

Miss Sixty - Good luck with the job hunting. I hope something wonderful comes along soon.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Ours is not too exciting. Getting stuff done around the house and some errands and preparation for our next trip which starts Thursday.

What ho, my lovelies! Gee...I sure to appear out of nowhere these days, don't I? :-[ **Wave franticly to everyone*

Don't have much time...but

Romeny, the bday was very nice. My family all met at one of our local parks for a picnic. The kiddies loved being able to run around the playground and then stop for dinner and cake. Ahhh...gotta luv kids. ;D It was a nice restful evening AND those don't come around a lot these days. Sorry to hear about your son's accident. :'( Thank God he wasn't hurt!

Celebrian - I share you sufferings...disappearing posts happen to me from time to time. Grrrrrr! Glad you had a minute to stop in. :)

Gem, I thought Prince Caspian sounded like Puss-in-buss too! :D How funny!

Liz, I hope the job search is going well. Sorry to hear that you are feeling sad about your grandma. I think I missed a post or two...but did something bad happen to her? :'(

Whelp, my dears...I must dash. i will try to get online again soon!

Hi Culpie!

Hi Liz (Miss Sixty) - good luck with the job search and the interview! I hope it works out for you.

Compared with the U.S., I'm about 3 years late but I just discovered Numb3rs... It's actually shown on TV over here but I never noticed it because I don't watch a lot of TV. Rose1966 mentioned it a couple of times in her messages but I never checked it out until.... Hmm, to be honest I don't know why I decided to check it out... Anyway, I love the character of Charlie! Is there another 'Charlie' out there...? ::) I do however also enjoy the cases and the math because I love numbers. What makes this show more interesting is the fact that we see the family relationships and the characters evolve. As you can see, I am quite enthralled. :D

Okay, back to my Uni paper....

Hope you all have a great weekend. :D[/color]

Hi everyone... I just got home from work and thought I'd check in with everyone from A+F.

I've been a bit neglectful of the site over the last couple of days....

Charlotte came down with a flu bug and wasn't her normal bright and cheery self, and Rory was 'working from home' over the weekend, which meant I couldn't get near the computer, LOL! ::)

At least he WAS actually home, which makes a change! ;) :-X But sometimes I just feel like going away for the weekend, which we don't seem to have done in aaaages! :P I'm stuck in a permanent Groundhog Day - if you've seen this movie you'll know what I mean! ;D

Oh BTW, good luck Elizabeth, and "HI" to all you fellow 'oldies' hehe. :D

Gem: Sorry about the flu, I hope you don't get sick. I know what you mean about being stuck in Groundhog day. How about setting yourself one day a week to something that you enjoy or perhaps a different fun activity each week? :) Hope I'm not being too forward...

Hi Elizabeth, Kathleen, Culpie, Romeny and all who frequent this thread! :D

No Carina, you're not being too forward at all... and it's not as tho I never have any fun, hehe, just that I haven't been out of my own town for so long, I feel like my days are kinda "samey". ::) :P Actually, I usually try to have some friends over for dinner at least once a week, and I try to schedule regular "net" time and just time for lazying around reading and whatnot. But you're right, I really need to make a bigger effort in this regard - I need to see some live bands, and go to the beach or something to make me feel young and carefree, lol! ;) ;D ::)

Ms. Sixty hope you get the job you want.

Gemstar, this "oldie" is doing fine...

Culpie you've been quite busy I have to go back to read what you posted over at LJ, I'm so behind in reading over there.

So glad to get a break from all the hot weather here, it's been incredible in the 50's at night and 70's during the day. Things are thankfully slow here at work but we're gearing up for the beginning of school.

I hope your summer is going well. It must be admitted that while I cleaned out my notifications, messages and emails....I have yet to catch up on my LJ flist entries. :-[ However, I know I will soon.

I did start my entry on Yellowstone...just haven't finished it yet. It should be ready for posting soon.

Gem, I totally hear you on that. It has literally taken me almost two weeks to catch up. But the vacation and break were worth it. 8) Uh oh...did I see you mention the flu? Whoa...too early for that! :o

I comtemplated staying home to get some rest tomorrow...but I may be off to Seattle, WA for work - 9 hr drive. I won't know for certain until tomorrow. Here's hoping we can accomplish our goal over a video conference. ;)

It is pretty dang hot out here today...up to a little over 100F and expected to stay this warm until Thursday. I can't really complain though...it has been fairly mild this summer.

Ack...i gotta go grab some tea and medicine to stop my coughing. :-\ I will be later.

wow Deenan, your trip is coming up so quickly. Have fun! I don't think I'd like taking a cruise, because I get seasick so easily. I guess I could take medicine for it, but being out on the water would make me a little nervous.
You are going to have a great time. ;D

School started last Monday, and it's been such a hectic week. I've been so tired this week, just trying to get back into the swing of things. I hate getting up at 5:30 in the morning. :-\

Yes, Romeny, it's me Katydid. I used to come here a lot.

Culpie, have you gotten over your cold? Summer colds are the worst.

I did just check out the pics...that looks amazing, I don't know if I'd be brave enough to try it. Thanks for sharing. :D

Awwww...thanks, Kathleen. Yes...I was fortunate not to have a long summer cold. It lasted just about a week. Wahoo! ;D I think I do remember seeing you post as Katydid in the past. Welcome back!

Liz, your paragliding looked like so much fun! You are so brave. :D The pics came out great!

Romeny, I am with you....I have no desire to go on a cruise. Being on a ship with a bunch of other people is not too attractive to me. However, they really seem to be a good way to travel around see lots of place at a relatively low cost. It just wouldn't be my first choice for travel. I got a think with the open ocean. :-\

Deenan, make sure to take lots and lots of pics. It will be fun to see them when you return.

You are, my dear! Not everyone would try paragliding and I think it was very brave of you and Mark to head off for NZ. It is always scary to leave what we know and are familiar with.... ;)

Seriously either one is fine. A couple folks here call me Julie, i.e Shayda. So whichever you like best...or you can alternate. ;D

I laugh a little because Shayda changed names a few times that I still call her Veronica or vernie sometimes. Fortunately she never minds. :D

*snorts* page three?!? :o

aaah, remember the days this thread would have been commented in all day long? now it's months in between.

do you want to keep going it or give it a proper send off? i'll check for replies in about a month. ;D

Oh Deenan, you're too much! ;) ;D

I may be an oldie, but you're right, this thread is rarely used. IMHO it could probably be safely disposed of, lol!

If older folks want to chat, regardless of age, they're welcome to join us regulars in the General Chat Room... "older" gals like myself, Elizabeth and Culpie all congregate there anyways... :)

I see your point.

Just now was the first time I saw this thread as the last responded to in this section in a very long time. I think it could probably go, even though I would be rather sad to see it leave. :(

I hate to see it go but with no one using it there's nothing to keep going. I vote for proper send off!

It is true...even when I first starting "chatting" here there was a lot of activity. Now you can hear the crickets chirping. :-\ I think most of us meet up on LJ or on other threads in the forum. I sure hate to see this thread go, but I totally understand. :'(

:'( Boo hoo! I will miss this thread! Say...does anyone have a Live Journal besides those I already have on my flist?

I hate to say goodbye to this thread...even though it isn't frequented much any more.

Bye everyone! :-* :-*

Julie, I'm signed up to LJ as the_gemstar but I never really use it ::) :-[ ... anyway I take it you mean all the original "old" members, who all seem to have "gone over to the other side" (livejournal hehe ;))

From what I can tell, all devoted A+F'ers seem to congregate either on the "boxie" or the General Chat thread these days.

This is a shame I agree with Gem, we all seem to congregate in the general chat thread..

GOODBYE OLD ELIJAH THREAD, WE MISS YOU

Title: Re:The "Old" Elijah Fans Thread - Part 3
Post by: Culpie on December 28, 2008, 05:33:26 pm

The other side is right! :D I did hop on LJ and added you as a friend...even if you don't use it much at the moment. ;) After "meeting" everyone on this thread I decided to do a LJ and bumped into the others there.

I started on the boxie, but never could keep up with everyone...so migrated to LJ. ;) I do still "lurk" there from time to time, but mostly do the LJ thing. 8)

So I will see ya on "General Chat", LJ or possibly the boxie. :-*

Tehe, thanks Culpie, I'll actually have to visit my LJ one of these days haha! ;D

I used to hang out on the boxie, but not so much anymore.

Bye bye "Old" thread! :'( :-*

Maybe you could give a big shout-out and get a quote/statement from former members about what the site once meant to them. For me it was my introduction to the Elijah fandom although I lurked for at least a yr before getting up the nerve to join. It also led to my introduction to LJ.

Title: Re:The "Old" Elijah Fans Thread - Part 3
Post by: Culpie on January 17, 2009, 01:37:26 am

It was my first time as a "fan" posting too. I "met" the ladies I currently chat with on LJ. Don't think I would have started "bloging" without you lovely ladies! :-*

This is why I am a tad sentimental about seeing this thread go. ;)

"we've had our discussions, and said our goodbyes,
bad times and good, and that's no lie.

the time has come to put to rest,
the thread that was and will always be best."

lol! made that up on the spot.

;)

if the time ever comes to open the thread again, it'll be here. just PM me or one of the mods.
