Title: Rachel's 101
Post by: MeruPuri on January 31, 2007, 08:30:57 pm

Ok so here's the deal about this thread. I have a book called "101 Things to Do Before You're Old and Boring" and I plan on doing them! As I complete each task I will post pictures and goodies to share! I'll try and do them as often as I can and post them as soon as I've done them.

Here you can tell me what you think of each task and how you think I've done. When I have finished all 101 lets eat cake! Then buy "101 Things to Do Before You Die"!

For people asking for the list:

I have a feeling that if I post them all on my web site I might get sued..... yeah, not cool. So I'm first going to send a letter to the publisher and ask for permission. That may take awhile so please bear with me. Thanks, Rachel

Hi Rachel,

Thank you for your interest in 101 Things to Do Before You Are Old and Boring, however I regret to inform you that we can not grant you permission to post the list of things on your web site. We have recently instituted a new policy regarding the internet rights to works we publish, and as a result we are no longer granting any substantial internet usage rights. I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

All Best,

Lauren *Smith

*(For privacy)

Sorry guys. Would love to post them, but I don't feel like getting into hot water with anyone. (Just read them as I go.)

!THIS LIST CAN ONLY BE FOUND ON MY WEBSITE!

www.rachels101.20m.com (http://www.rachels101.20m.com)

Ok, just today the publisher of "101 Things to Do..." e-mailed me a reconsideration letter! Here is what some of it said.....

"Dear Rachel,
I understand you were not granted permission to include the list of 101 Things To Do Before You're Old and Boring on your blog, and that you are now no longer documenting how you're completing those tasks.

We've since reconsidered your request, and think what you've done is quite creative and industrious and would love to see you continue blogging about the other 94 Things To Do on the list. I've attached a contract for you to sign which basically states that we will grant you permission to use the list and allow you to continue writing about how you accomplish each item on the list, as long you don't include other text from the book...."

So this is like a little dream come true for me and I've learning that you should always ask even if the result isn't what you want, but they may come back and be even more than you've expected!

This cake was a Chocolate Mable layer cake with a vanilla frosting. My friend Jill came and we made it together. It turned out pretty good. Yeah! 1 down, 100 to go. : D

Boy, did I have a shoker yesterday! My computer totaly died and I thought we were going to have to formate it. : ( My parents brought it to Best Buy, though, and it was up and working again. 0.O? Wierd uh? Any how, I should have another task up very soon! : )

Ok this sounds easy, right? NO! Holy Cow, I've never done something so simple yet so complicated. It turned out pretty bad, but I did it. (I have a video of making it, but it's too long to put it up.) Anyways, here's a picture of it. Yay!

That one did seem a little lame, oh well still have 99 to go. : )

Task #13 Learn to whistle (and make other noices)

Ok this was really fun. My friend, Alyssa, did this one with me. We were at "classes" in the study hall and I thought, "Hey, lets do one of my tasks!". She's so cute, she said," Yeah, totally."

So we start making really loud wierd noices like whistling and duck quacking, some rasspberries too (haha those were the worst). I pretty much suck at making animal noices, but Alyssa is awesome at it. (Although, I can whistle better. ;))

Task #20 Stay Up All Night

Alright so I stayed up all last night Feb 2-3rd. It's wasn't too hard and I had fun. Here's a review of the night.

Ok the begining. This is my mom and me at around 7pm. I was already tired by then. I soon got over it though.

Tis' 11:00pm now. I had just finished watching "Out Break" with my folks. Not a bad movie, by the way. Umm, I was getting a bit tired, but that's ok.

I don't know what I was doing in this picture.... 12am.

I just got done watching "Everything is Iluminated"

Sammy fell asleep during the movie.....

*Yawn* . It was ok. I love how it's so moody, yet a sence of humor. I didn't like how unclear it was though. Maybe I need to watch it again? I understand why they keep the deleted sences out, but it really would have made the movie a bit more interesting. (This is how I looked after watching it..)

3:30am I'm drifting away now. lol

Now I was borded and thought I would just sneak around the house, but I soon got bored of that and....

Got a snack.

Ok, don't ask.

4am now, not bad.

I taught myself a card trick! (Task #23) Tell me what you think of it. (the card was chosen at random and I had to find that card. I did not look at your card.)

(Sorry, I tried putting it on "Your Tube" and "Photo Bucket", but it just won't work. : / )

6am. I'm again trying on hats and stuff.

By the time I took this picture I was super tired and almost fell asleep, but I didn't!

7am! One more hour to go and I am so happy. 7-8am was the hardest part of the whole thing.

DONE!!! I'm sleeping now and that's one more task complete!

Old enteries from that night:

My task for today and tomorrow (maybe even the next day) is to stay up all 24 hours (started Feb 2nd 2007 this morning at 8:00am : ends at 8:00am Feb 3rd 2007 tomorrow)

Then sleep all 24 hours. (starts Feb 3rd 2007 at 8:01am : ends Feb 4th 2007 8am) So wish me luck and I'll report as I go. (I know I have a meeting at 7-9pm on the day I'm suposed to sleep, but I'll go striaght to bed after it. hehe!)

[update!(1)]

Ok it's 8:00pm right now and everything's going well. : ) I got a movie and I plan on doing some other activities as I go. I might be updateing more tonight, so stay up with me if you want! : 3 Note: I won't be on here all night though, just updates or replies.

[update!(2)]

Tis' 11:00pm now. I just finished watching "Out Break" with my folks. Not a bad movie, by the way. Umm, I'm getting a bit tired, but that's ok. I'm taking pictures as I go on. By the time 4am rolls around I'll probably look like a zombie. haha! (I laugh now. ha) I'll come back later. See ya soon!

[update!(3)]

It's 2:51am. I've still got much energy. I just got done watching "Everything is Iluminated" *Yawn* . It was ok. I love how it's so moody, yet a sence of humor. I didn't like how unclear it was though. Maybe I need to watch it again? I understand why they keep the deleted sences out, but it really would have made the movie a bit more interesting.

Humm.... taking pictures as I go......

I feel a little light headed, but I will go on! I have all day and night tomorrow to sleep. he. ....2:59am....

[update!(4)]

Wow, 4:34am, not bad. I learned a card trick tonight. I took a video of it and if it loads I'll share it with you. : ) I'm going to work on my book now.

Umm, I probably won't be back until 6ish because I don't want to make too much noise going from room to room and clicking keys on the keyboard.

Ahh, I'm getting moody. Right now I feel my stomack cramping and I wanna see EW for some reason. Blah. My ears are cold......

[update!(5)]

6:08am. Only 2 more hours to go. I have more strength now that I did at 4am. This whole stay up all night task hasen't been so hard! I think sleeping will be harder. This is so worth it!!!! Peace Out Rocker Dudes!

[update!(6)]

Ok it is now 7:38am, I will stay up until 8:00am. Then I'm off to go hit the hay for 24 more hours. *sigh* I will complete my total entery on Sunday with pictures and what I did and what happened. : ) It's all most done! Thank goodness!!

[update!(7)]

Ok I'm upand dressed to go to my meeting. It's 5:16pm. I feel tired still and not very good. I'm going to spend as much energy as I can while I'm still up so that I can go back to sleep tired. Wow, blah! Tomorrow I will be making a post that's all nice and edited and easy to read with pictures of how things went.

96 To go!

Task #51 Save Your Allowance for a Month and Spend it All at Once. (In progress)

Ok this is going to take me longer than a month, I can tell you that right now. The deal is with this task is your supposed to save up for something you really want and then get it. What I want, though, will take me and about 2 years. : D I'm saving up to go to Italy (task #32 & 70 maybe more...)!

My Plan:

In about a 2 years I will be 18 and have enough money to visit Vience Italy in the Spring/Summer.

I'm figuring it will cost $5,000. That's $2,500 a year and $208.33 a month and an avrage of $7 a day! Not bad, ehh?

How am I going to make this money, you ask? I really don't know. (I don't really get an allowance anymore, but I do secratary work now and then. I'll probably have a garage sale or something. lol (you must be laughing your socks off right now.) Optimisim my friend, optimisim! Think $7 a day. Update later.

I have a total of $60.06 so far! : )

I'm getting the urge to buy a picture taker. You know what I mean. Also a video recorder. (This stinks) I don't want a digital camera though because they all ways seem to get really sloooooow over time. So that means no camera w/video. "These are the times that I wish I had money." -MeruPuri

Task #10 Have an Embarrassing Moment and Get Over It.

What happened was I was at Spanish class and we were talking about the upcoming holiday (St.Valentine's Day). I was so excited about it that when she asked what holiday was coming up I shouted, "ST. PATRICK'S DAY!" with a huge smile on my face. Everybody stopped for a second and started to laugh so hard. It was a bit embarrassing, but it was also pretty funny.
